OK, just replaced my m70's fx1400 with a brand spankin' new 7800gtx and am seeing behavior that confuses me. With my fx card 3 different levels of performance existed, 2d, low 3d and 3d and behavior was what you would expect: non 3d usage and the card clocked down to 2d and 3d apps caused it to clock up.
This is not the case with the 7800.. The speeds stay clocked at the 3d speeds at all times except for when I unplug the laptop, at which it will clock down to the 2d speeds.
Does this seem correct?
