Standby Issue

Hey guys just got my Z96j and i'm loving it. But i'm having a problem. Everytime I close the lid it goes into standby, but when I open it up again and push a key, the hdd spins, the status becomes solid but the screen doesn't show anything.
Ken recommended Bhatman's post which stated to make sure all updates are installed for windows and they are. I shut down and it installed 47, that wouldn't show up in regular windows update window.
Any other suggestions?
The only way to get it to start up again is to hold the power button down until it shuts down and then start up again. Im sure its a simple fix, but I don't have a ton of time to figure it out since finals are their way here. And I will write a review on the Z96j in a few days.

Ken says that it is most probably a ati drivers issue, and that he is looking into it.

Ok here what happened:

I had the problem of standby issue BUT not when screen closed, but after the screen saver closed down(most of story is in other thread)
So mainly it was solved when windows installed updates, but when I upgraded to the ATi Catalyst drivers on the Intel website, it sorta happened again. But if it persists, go back to the stock drivers.

Go to Control Panel>Power Options>Advanced>then go to the drop-down menu under "When I close the lid of my portable computer", and select "Do Nothing."
Should solve your problem. Did for my W3J.

Yeah me and Bhatman were on the phone trying to figure out what cause this problem, looks like it's the ATI driver from Intel website, I've already report the problem to Intel and they are working on it.

The issue isnt that bad, its just one of those things that like to nag on you when you have such a nice notebook and everything is going perfect(unlike dell...)

Hey, hey, hey! I've noticed the same issue on my A8Jm.. I already changed the closed-lid settings, which is a nice workaround, but the issue persists when I manually put it on standby. Any suggestions?

Hmmm, you have a different GPU than us. Basically the solution was to reupdate the drivers and it would stop.

It is listed in intel's chipset, graphics set as an issue, so when new update comes out it should be fixed.

Hey my S96J, if I set it to turn off the LCD after a set amount of time and it does it, doesnt turn back on unless I do a hard reboot.

No issues with standby here though.

Thats the problem I was having, and if you rollback to the stock drivers, nothing happens, but its the latest driver issue(though I never get it anymore and im on latest ATi Catalyst drivers off of Intel website)
