if your considering the slot load drive please remmeber it does make weird noises when accessing or when you open up my computer, and when you turn it on. I believe its the same is the tray one just that it has a slot which i don't think is worth the extra money but it looks cool

Good review mate i really enjoyed it, thanks a lot, it cleared up a lot of things.
Can you take some aditional pics of where the holes for the integrated microphones are and you should give it a test and see how good it sounds/etc, Im curious if its any good.

P.S. - Do you always cut your wrists before writing a review?

haha, no i dont cut my wrists, i was putting up a painting with my dad and the nail came out and i was on the bottom and the picture frame slashed my left hand and my wrist
I'll check out the mic for you

mic is alright, volume is a little low though, clarity is decent compared to other mics i've had.

I sill have some of the plastic on the screen on the edges, the mics are the two holes, and hte webcam is in the middle and there are 2 spacers int he pic but there are 4 more around hte screen

Good excuse, ill use that next time i try to kill myself
One more question, how's the sensitivity on the mic, is it good enough so u can sit comfortably 1 foot away from it and speak at a normal level or do you hafta yell at it?

I had to lean forward a tad but i didn't have to yell into it.

Great review. Would comment on the quality of the LCD screen. Do you have any backlight bleed? Brightness, uniformity, etc.
Getting mine in a few days and the wait is killing me.
This a great forum. Thanks

Well, I didn't know much about backlight bleed till you asked, so I looked it up online for how to test for it and it told me to turn off the lights, put up a black screensaver and take a picture, these are the results.

I don't think that it is that much compared to my hp dv4340us or my samsung syncmaster 191t. You guys be the judges though.

Question for you guys, when I was shopping around for the laptop I found ibuypower to have the ability to add graphics on the lid. Does anyone know how they did that. I emailed them but I doubt they'll tell me.
They have some weird lids, I like mine without a panel. kpxgg, its like I said in another thread, The S96j may look like an average notebook, but it has the power of a high end notebook(and scares people)

haha thats true
I wouldn't mind adding a panel with something on it but I sure as hell wouldn't want that anime crap they have at ibuypower
