i'm in the market for a new monitor atm i have a Viewsonic lcd, its not bad at all, but its only 1440x900 and my desktop i built recently, Asus A8N32-SLI 2 G's Corsair Xms Xpert, Gigabyte 7950 gx2 etc etc, AMD 4800+, i find myself wanting a higher resolution as this card really shines at higher resloutions 1680 plus or so, anyhow i'm not really good at picking out monitors and i'd like some help! Best end all gaming monitor, nothing that is like 2k or anything though :P

Check out the 2407 from Dell...it is a great monitor, 24" widescreen (1920x1200 resolution), and there are some good deals out there.

I just got a ViewSonic 20.1" VX2025wm and I love it. 1680 x 1050 resolution, 8ms response time, 800:1 contrast ratio, DVI and VGA inputs. For a total (after shipping) of $342 from newegg I was very happy. Given there are better monitors out there I didn't know what kind of price restraints you were under, but this is really working out for me.

I got this one recently

UXGA 1600x1200 with a 5ms responce time. Nice for gaming.

i had the same problem as you, i was running an XGA screen with 2x 7800GT, AMD X2 4600+ and i just wanted UXGA.

Games look great on this so far...

its like 499 at bestbuy

its good but the 2407 has HDCP, i'd go with the 2407 because you'll want a high res monitor to go with that 7950

finding the "right" monitor is so hard, its a toss up between gateways 500dollar 1680x1050 8 ms hdcp ready or dell's 24inch 1920x1200, and i know the 7950 really starts to shine at 1920x1200 so its a lean towards dell, any other reccomendations?

Ive had this one for a while and highly recommend it.I paid 600 when it came out at 500 its a deal.It is also my first lcd so dont have much to compare to.I have pc and xbox 360 hooked up to it and its great for gaming.Im curious when i get m9700 its resolution is 1920 x 1200 .Can i run dual displays at different resolutions (off laptop)seeing the gateway is 1680 x 1050?Also can someone explain what difference between 2 resolutions is?Is the 1920 x 1200 wider and shorter?or are they same dimmensions but ones just higher resolution?Sorry for all questions quys I appreciate all your help.

well, a few in this thread had recomended the samsung 204b UXGA 1600x1200.

owning one of these bad boys, i can tell you its a great buy, and not so much $$$

you want UXGA (1600x1200 4:3 "standard") (1920x1200 16:10 "wide")
There is no differance in quality between 1600x1200 and 1920x1200, they are both UXGA just the 1920x1200 is wide screen, 16:10.

that gateway is only an SXGA screen, not that thats bad, but there is better res for a lower price.

I'm getting a 2407 myself soon, I looked at all the monitors out there, and I want a 24". I'd prefer the samsung 244T, but it's more expensive for essentially the same features.
