Wanted: Dell M1710 XPS Black Lid Cover

I want a Black XPS LCD Lid Cover for the Dell M1710 so I can put it on my E1705. I can't seem to find it anywhere for sale, all I find is the "Special Edition Red". I want the black. If you are willing to sell or know someone who is, please PM me. Thank you!!!!!!

Dude, I'm looking for the same exact thing!! Maybe we can buy the red ones and trade for the black ones lol. I see that you have xps keyboard. Is better than the e1705 black one?

btw, how much is the black lid from dell directly and does someone have a part #?

I haven't recieved the computer yet, but I have all of the parts . I will be getting my computer on Thursday and will be modding the crap out of it. I got it on eBay for $1062.20 and upgraded the HD, Ram, put Bluetooth in it, and put the XPS Keyboard on it. But as I stated earlier, I don't have the computer yet and I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!

from dell spare parts, the palmrest and cover combined are about $150, the part nos are:

^^ Nah, just a couple of screws and patience when pulling the plastics off. Its quite easy.

However, the e1705 doesnt have the motherboard connectors for the led's I believe so we cant have the lights. (unless the led's are a part of the fan assembly, then that could work ...)

I think atwood7fan gave us all we need. In there is says black asembly cover and palmrest plastic m1710. I'm going to call on monday and give them the part numbers. I'll report back here exactly how much it cost. Although I like the m170 black trim palmrest, it doesnt fit. I tried it and there are some differences on where the screws go and theres no hole for the media direct button. Its not worth it. The all silver look of the m1710 is really nice anyway (better than this cheezy white look ugh) and it fits with no modifications.

i think the palmrest for the m90 would look good too... though i am not sure if it fits correctly... at least it gets rid of thr white trim. I saw an m90 cover on ebay i thought about changing my e1705 to that since the lights wont work with the xps cover

Now thats a great idea. I didnt even think of that. I really would like to go with the silver/black look on the palmrest instead of just silver. They are basically the same computer right? I'll have to check on monday.

Total with shipping and tax: $160.

I ordred the m90 palmrest since I wanted the silver/black look and the m1710 lcd cover. The m1710 palmrest should be around the same price. I'll post pics when its all done. Thanks for your help everyone.

let me know how that goes, I am thinking of just transforming mine into the m90 but am waiting to see if all the screws and such line up correctly

Well I checked online and the instruction manual for replacing the palmrest on the m90 from Dell shows the palmrest area from an e1705(with the white sides). So I'm only assuming it will fit. I'll let you know when I get it for sure.

I think it'll fit for sure. Cant wait to get the parts!
