Two hardware questions the manual doesn't answer

Okay - there's a little thing next to my IR port that has a funny looking symbol under it. I saw somewhere that it could be a sony memory card reader but the manual doesn't say a thing about it and it doesn't seem to be openable.

The second question I have is about a depressed square next to the power button. It looks like a mini touch pad. What is it for?

Also I have a question about the remote that comes with the TV tuner. I was playing with it (my TV tuner might have actually been out of the computer!) and I turned on the computer by pressing the powerr button! I might have just been imagining things but it seemed like it really happened, at least.

The depression is/was for a fingerprint recognition pad. For government contracts. Not sure about the other item but on the 8886 its a Sony Memory Stick slot. Its just a slot.

And yes, the remote will turn on the computer, it will turn it off too. You can make it do a lot of things. There are threads on that, do a search.

On the 8886 and 8887 the slot was for a Sony memory stick reader. On the 8890's the slot is covered over as Clevo decided not to put a mem stick reader there as we get the 6in1 card reader to do the job.

The depression near the power switch is where you stick a copy of your avatar so you know that this machine is yours .

With the TV tuner remote - yes it can turn the laptop on and off as well as change channels on the TV card (and work as a really painful mouse alternative).

Do you perhaps know if this free place was once meant for a fingerprint reader or if it instead was meant for a place of OEM logos?

BTW, I never heard of people who got a 8890 with a fingerprint reader (?).

You *never* will hear of people who have the fingerprint readers. If they need fingerprint readers, then they don't really exist do they? You never saw them, you were never here...

Hmmm, that answer would quite well fit into the book I'am actually reading ("The Company" - by Robert Littell).

But apart from that I know some other Notebooks (Samsung and some other vendors...) which already have these little devices build in, inside some of their respective selected models. - Ok, so I suppose you can't tell me if there are those little scanning your insight secrets devices available for that Notebook, since the australian secret service might kill you afterwards...

aussie is the australian secret service.

He goes around the bars that civil servants frequent and makes sure they drink so much they can't reveal any secrets.

He doesn't get intoxicated because he uses an ancient abo technique that prevents getting tipsy.
