Dell Canada Deals Getting Worse

Thread Starter
Dell Canada recently had a flyer that offered the XPS M1210 with the following:
Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2300E (1.66GHz/667MHz FSB)
12 inch WXGA Wide Screen with TrueLife™ and A/V Communications Pack (Intg. web cam, earbuds)
1GB Dual Shared Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz (2 Dimms)
256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7400 TurboCache
80GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 Mini Card (802.11 a/g, 54Mbps)
65 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
Dell Nylon Deluxe Carrying Case
Genuine Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005
1 Year Return To Depot Service & Tech Support

The price for this was a respectable $1399.00Cdn funds.
That offer just expired and a new flyer came out offering the M1210 with the following changes:

Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2400 (1.83GHz/667MHz FSB)
No A/V com. pack
80GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
Integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950
No carrying Case.

So, Dell gives you the better processor, better hard drive, worse video card, and takes away the A/V pack & carrying case. Guess what they're asking for this?

$1699!!!

I got my M1210 for $1462 CAD taxes in, shipped to my door.

The only difference between mine and thhe one listed is that I don't have the A/V package, no nylon carrying case, and I have the 9-cell instead of the 6-cell battery.

I think Dell Canada had a pricing error 2 weeks ago, when I jumped in, the base M1210 was listed as $1049, so by the time I tacked on the AV package, GF7400 and bigger batt, after tax it was under $1500, so I guess I got lucky.

It's ridiculous for them to upgrade the processsor to the T2400 and the 80gig HDrive to 7200RPM and then offer the worse video card. Plus, they want $300 more for it

I used this deal yesterday to get my M1210.

http://configure.dell.com/dellstore/...10_FSI_CH71FS7

Comes with the 1.83GHz CPU, A/v Package, 7400Go and if you choose the 100GB 7200RPM drive you subtract $100. Mine is currently in production with these specs:

Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2400 (1.83GHz/667MHz FSB)
12 inch WXGA Wide Screen with TrueLife™ and A/V Communications Pack (Intg. web cam, earbuds)
1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz (2 Dimms)
256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7400 TurboCache™
100GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
Genuine Windows® XP Home Edition
Integrated 10/100 Network Card and Modem
8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
Integrated Audio
Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 Mini Card (802.11 a/g, 54Mbps)
85 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
3Yr Ltd Wty with 3Yr NBD Onsite Serv with CompleteCare and 3Yr Tech Support
Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Internal(2.0 + Enhanced Data Rate)
85 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Additional Battery

Total was $1977, not a bad deal in my opinion.

Let me know what your estimated delivery date will be. Mine is August 7th But it went into production this morning so i'm hoping thats way off!!

Can you pay extra any way for quicker delivery from Dell Canada?
My expected delivery date was the 24th, and it got shipped from Calgary, headed I'm assuming to Saskatoon, on Friday, so it should be here tomorrow! Yay! This was a 6400 though... It took a few days in production, but it still said it was in production after it was shipped for a few days...

Why would you not go with the 7200RPM drive? Switching from the 100GB 5400RPM drive to the 100GB 7200RPM drive actually subtracts $100 bucks

Our Dell sales manager cancelled my order and re-placed it, so it would be expedited. Never knew they could do that?
I did not realize the -$100 difference at first. Which makes little sense because it's usually $150 more than the 5400 RPM version.

Once I realized my mistake, I canceled it and placed another order with the 7200RPM drive.

Sorry for the late reply. Been extra busy at work with out my own laptop

My esimated ship date is August 8th but it is currently in Delivery Preparation status and says it will ship today.

I talked to our "Sales manager" at Dell and he did something to expidite my order. My order is also under the Public Sector when its usually Small business, not sure what that is?

The shipping method also says Depot instead of Canada Standard. Does any one know what depot shipping speed is?

I ordered an M1210 last Tuesday and it shows the shipping date as July 23 and the estimated time of delivery as July 27.

I ordered mine on the 16th and it's showing the shipping date as July 23. Can't wait

I ordered mine on the 19th and it still says "Order Processing" and I used a credit card over the phone, and it was approved and everything...why is it taking so long? My EDD is 8/9/06..I'm thinking I should call and complain.

You should look under ACCOUNT on the Dell website. It should have a more realistic ship date for you. I ordered last Tuesday and Dell just changed my estimated delivery date from July 27 to tomorrow.

I don't have anything under my account because I ordered mine over the phone. Maybe if I ask for my customer number or something, I can update it or something. It's still "processing order" and now edd is august 10 -_-
