Which Processor is Faster?

3.2Ghz Pentium 4 with Hyper Threading Technology or Intel® Core™ Duo processor T2400 (2MB Cache/1.83GHz/667MHz FSB)

I personally think that the core duo is slightly faster than the Pentium 4. But my friends say that they're about the same in speed and performance.

they are actually rather close and chances are in day-to-day use you wont even feel the difference, but i'd still have to give the edge to the duo.

price? id consider conroe or the fact that an amd athlon 64 X2 5000+ will cost $282 after the price drop.

and you'll save a good chunk of change on your electric bill with the duo.
they don't burn as much wattage and your a/c doesn't have to work as much to keep the room it's in cool.

Depends on what you're doing, but the Core Duo is a much better CPU. P4 technology is dated to say the least. Intel was very smart to continue with the Centrino/Dothan techology. The Core 2 Duo stuff is even better. Even the AMD64 stuff is leaps and bounds above the P4. Building a P4 just makes no sense unless you don't need speed and you live in a very cold area where the computer is to double as a space heater.
