anyone on here not afraid of wrecking anything on there E1705's to do some custom paint. i just ordered a E1705 simply cause its a good price, but that silver i think will have to go along with the stupid white trim. im really hoping for someone who knows wut there doing that took the original plastic panels off and painted them. execpt the bottom which is black. if someone has done it maybe they have pics of the process/final product, and can give a person like me who is seriously considering doin it when i get my nbook delivered a few tips or pointers. unless someone has tryed but failed or wrecked something in the process.

I have a spare palmrest and lid for a 1705 if you are afraid of screwing up ;-) It will be in the forsale forum shortly.
The biggest thing is PATIENCE. If you're impatient and want to put your notebook back together quickly, you'll likely do a shitty job/not enough layers, etc. Lightly sand it off to roughen up the surfaces to be painted. Use a good primer (1 or 2 coats should do, all you want it to cover everything). A few coats of paint, let the last coat dry completely and then put on some clear coat. This way, any scratches will be on the clear and not on the actual paint.
Check out that guy's tutorial. A bit overboard, but the results are amzing.

About painting the palmrest, I had it all taped up and decided to not do it. I realized I'm hitting it with my watch bracelet way too often when I type, and it will likely look like junk after a few weeks. Something to think about. I too hate the white trims, but I think I'd hate painting it black and seeing white scratches all over.
I ordered th palmrest from an M90 and will use that instead (if it ever gets delivered). I had the m1710 palmrest on order, but it kept being delayed. I was told the M90 would get to me quicker but guess what...

ya that looks really sweet, thats exactly wut im considering doin. either paint or i might just get some good stickers i sometimes do that too to help something out if i dont like the look. its not the same thing but i think it helps basically wut im goin for a personalized look, i had some sweet ideas for paint but i might just let the paint idea go for now.
