Just ordered a m5550

Hi guys,

I'm new here and had some questions.

I just ordered the following:
[1] Area-51® m5550

Processor: Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2500 2.0GHz 2MB Cache 667MHz FSB
Operating System (Office software not included): Genuine Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional with Service Pack 2

Primary CD ROM/DVD ROM: 8X Dual Layer DVD+/-RW / 24X CD-RW Combo w/Software
Video/Graphics Card: 256MB NVidia® GeForce™ Go 7600
Sound Card: Intel® 7.1 High-Definition Audio

I was wondering if anyone knows if the 15.4" WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 LCD screens are on backorder still?

I was hoping to get my lappy ASAP. I placed my order on 7/13 and its now on phase 3. Do you think they got in a large shipment of the screens since they launched the new models? Don't you think they would have tried to compensate for the new orders of the new models?

Also, if anyone else has ordered the m5550, could you please chime in on your config as well as the progress on your machine?

Thanks for any help you guys can give me...

Very nice configuration. I'm sure they are trying to get the screens in ASAP...seems to be a general shortage.

The only thing you can do in the phase game is try to have PATIENCE (I know - it's hard to do!). Congrats.

Thanks for the reply.

I sent them an e-mail yesterday to see if they would give me an ETA on my system.

No response yet.

Would it be wise to give them a call?

Seriously this is the best mouse pad in the world. I have one already, but I'm gonna sell it with my area-51m 766 as a "bonus". ^.^

I ordered mine on 7/14, phase 3.
I plan on upgrading my processor in about 6 months, so I can live with the cheapest one for now.

I received an e-mail from them about my ETA. Armando answered my e-mail stating that the machine should be shipped on Aug 2nd.

Has anyone ever gotten their machines earlier than the ETA?

Believe it or not, I've gotten all of my machines before the ETA except the m9700 I have on order, and that's my own fault for changing the order so many times.

When they were smaller, 30 days was their standard build time, and all of my systems were delivered on the last day or a couple days before the estimate.

I've seen some people actually get their machines in just over a week. It really depends on what you order.

I know, thanks for the reasurrance lol.

I just sent back the final financing papers via Snail mail (Ugg!!) So I expect that by thursday they will be able to move me forward in the phases... which totally sucks since I ordered it last thursday which means that the aw credit card set my back an entire week But oh well... Patience is a virtue lol!

I just checked my status and somehow I'm back to phase 1.

I'm seriously considering contacting alienware.
Try refreshing the page its a glitch on the phase page lol
post #14 of 61
Yeah, if you've been past phase 1, and it shows you at phase 1, hit refresh and it'll probably show differently. If the process times out before you see the result it reverts to phase 1...

Are you serious?

Already on phase 5?

Are you pulling my leg? Mine has been on Phase 3 for the past 7 days. I called them up yesterday and today and they still have no idea when my order will go into production.

Hukashi, he said "just kidding."

So I called up Customer Service today and talked to Anna about my order. She was great to deal with.

She told me that she found out that the LCD screens and the Video Cards are on back order. She said the parts should be in either on Aug. 1st or 2nd. It's refreshing to finally talk to someone over there that has a clue and is willing to help.

I'll call them back on the 2nd to see if my status has changed.
