Is my MJ12m 7700 dead? - Page 2

and if memory serves, I think Gethermal uses between 10 and 20 megs of RAM while open, which is one of the reasons I don't use it anymore. Not that I'm hurting for RAM but with gaming, every little bit helps.

Chalk up another A-51 M7700 that has the same problems as described in post #13. I'm glad you all have been willing to post your experiences and recommendations. I'm going to go ahead and spring for the new MOBO at RJ-T. I'll let you all know how it goes.

I agree why are there so many people who have had the same problem, and nothings been done about it, well I take that back - last time I tried to get help from AW customer service I was told the M7700 is being discontinued. They are not going to sell it or support it anymore.

Just gotta chime in and say that my Area51 M7700 also exhibits the same problems as described in #13. I'm as frustrated as everyone else about this, because my notebook will actually work fine if I let it warm up for 20 minutes. (Most likely this is a cracked solder joint on the motherboard.)

Fortunately for me, I sprang for the 3-year warranty, and I still have a year to go on it. Otherwise, I'd take a shot repairing the board with my hot air station..

RMA# 1012461D.

Wish me luck, everyone.

For anyone who is purchasing a new motherboard, check on ebay. I bought one (and they sent me another bad one, sending replacement now) and for 10% of the bid price, you can get a squaretrade warranty for 2 years. If it breaks during that time, they refund the cost of the motherboard. So, that's what I did.

Also, I have a motherboard (my old one) that everything works except the keyboard... if someone wants that for cheap send me a PM.
