The good - warrenty gfx card, faster ram, 17inch screen, dual core cpu

The bad - The price, ****ty preinstalled software, intel cpu-dual core however, probably heavy as hell. weak battery.

I think i get a discount through school for dell so the price might go down.

i'd get the dell. if you don't want the adware and useless crap on there, just reformat. it's not that hard.

msi-1039 is not a bad system i think

either one is a great system IMO..it seems the dell you have picked is 17" while the msi is 15". do you want mobility? 7900 will give you better performance than x1600, but not by that much.
actually the 7900 is much better than the X1600..

If you decide to go smaller for the 15.4" I suggest looking at the Asus S96j (or z96j), pretty much the same specs as that MSI but cheaper and core duo.
