Well this is new... sound card and media card reader

Hehehehe...

Okay, I had this one coming, I know that much already.

I took this little bugger to SANS and managed to put so many little nasties on it that there was no use saving it. I killed the OS and reformatted it.

Yeah, kinda dumb, but that is what SANS is all about. Kinda kick ass to have that much fun destroying stuff... legally

And of course, now I am encountering issues.

The first one is that while the sound seems alright through the speakers, the headphones are a bit buggered. What I mean is that I only get sound through the one side. Tis weird. I've tried a few pairs just to make sure that it wasn't an issue with the headphones, but nope... it's the system.

Also, the media reader is kinda knackered. With the 766 model, which driver fits that bill?

EDIT: Think I got that one, nm

I'd do the same with the sound card, but apparently it doesn't like that driver (only the AC97 seems to work when you use Windows update).

So... any suggestions?

well, got the one issue dealt with. Now to take care of the sound issue.

Yeah, I know, the port could have been damaged, but this was a "new" mobo, and didn't have any issues until the system had been wiped clean.

I look at it this way, it's a SW config fix. Worst case, I call AW tonight, but it beats having the open account on the machine used for remote assistance (and often for other, less honorable means).
