CTO HP DV8000Z Owners?

If you purchased a CTO (customized to order) HP DV8000Z notebook from HP.com I would appreciate if you could respond quickly here.

When you received your system, did the palm rests of the notebook have any stickers on them or were the palm rests free of any stickers? (not including the stickers found on the extreme right hand side of the palm rest (processor sticker, graphics sticker, windows sticker, etc). I have seen the systems new with stickers all over the palm rests on these forums but I'm guessing those are the ones that people are buying in the retail stores?

Also for those who got their system with the lightscribe drive, does the side of the optical drive say "lightscribe" on it or do you only have a lightscribe sticker on the right side of the palm rest?

There is a reason why I'm asking this, don't want to get into a long post about it but I just need to know.

Thanks

I just helped my brother in law custom order one. His had stickers on the palm rest. He has only had it a week and I am already sick and tired of HP's customer service. I have never dealt with a company with such horable support.

On a CTO order placed thru www.Costco.com on a dv8000t (same outer case) it came with the stickers ONLY on the extreme right hand side of the palmrest.... and NO the lightscribe DVD drive itself does NOT say Lightscribe on it...

I would assume you think you've got a re-furb?... On the stickers/ retail stores having stickers all over them... I would think that they don't waste the $$$$ on the stickers on the CTO units.... as people who CTO something usually are of a higher caliber... CTO people doing more research...

I've had it with HP!

Thanks for the replies on this...

I ended up having to send this notebook back to HP!

This was the 4th system I have ordered from them in two months and the 4th system that I ended up having to send back to them!

Something is SERIOUSLY wrong with the people working in their factorys over in China! Every single machine I have received from them has HORRIBLE build qualities! Screens are scratched, outer casing is all scratched up, on the latest system I received and returned, the harddrive cover on the bottom of the notebook was warped and would not lay flush with the bottom of the notebook. I called HP to request a cover replacement and they said they didn't have this part and I would have to send the entire system back and reorder! WTF is up with these idiots? They want to pay shipping with fedex to return a system for a 5 cent piece of plastic that can just be sent out to me? Not to mention making me wait longer to get a correctly built system?

I'm sick of their drama! Also the stickers that are put on the system (altac lansing speaker sticker was just thrown on the machine (not properly placed in the indentation where it was suppose to be), the sticker on the screen bezzle that said "HP DV8000Z" was also just thrown on the machine not properly placed where it should have been. I mean they are just a mess in the factory!

Not only can HP seem to not be able to send me a quality built product, they can't even get the return setup correctly with Fedex! They set up a return with fedex where fedex was picking the packge up from my house and instructed fedex to bring a preprinted label to put on the box. Fedex comes and says "I don't have no label"! This has also happened twice now with returns. The first two times I returned I took it to fedex myself so I was able to create my own label with my printer, but if they pickup you can't do that. It has to be a fedex preprinted label. But HP can't even get that right. Even the fedex guy told me that he has seen this way to many times with HP pickups.

I use to own several compaq notebooks back in the day and never had any problems with their machines, the designs were awesome! But I don't dare try it now, since they are not their own company anymore and have joined with HP, I'm scared the same problems are going to happen with them and I just refuse to try anymore. I think I have gone out of my way to be loyal to HP and after 4 times and 2 months of ordering, I am done with them!

I'm so pissed that I'm selling my HP all in one machine and going to Lexmark. I want nothing more ever to do with HP, their customer service is actually worse then Dell's, and thats not an easy statement to make these days.

I guess now I'm forced to go with a Dell machine, with that ugly silver and white color scheme.

Thanks a lot HP for your sh*tty ass service!

Dell knew about "dozens" of burned laptops two years before recall?
