Just ordered, IM FREAKING EXCITED :P

Well, yesterday (july 17) i finally order my FIRST laptop. I got the Dell Inspiron E1705, long story short their were discounts (about 47% off).

E1705 Specs:
-Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2600 (2.16GHz/667MHz FSB)
-17 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen UXGA Display with TrueLife™
-1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
-256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7900 GS
-80GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
-Intel® PRO 3945 and Dell 355 Bluetooth Internal Wireless Cards
-FREE!8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability (always got to love free stuff )

The reason i got the 1 gig of ram from dell is that they did NOT offer me to bump it down to 512mb so i decide that i go with 1 gig now and upgrade later, but i do play BF2 but i dont think this will cause any problems.

Well, i hope this sucker comes in this weekend, so i can do some serious gaming

Congrats. You will enjoy the raw 7900 power.

Nice system. You will enjoy it. I sure do enjoy mine.

What does a stock clocked 7900 GS realistically run BF2 at?

Man i am PISSED , all day i check every two hours to see if they finish the pre-production stage, which they should have, but NOOOO. When i call them up they say they need 5 to 10 days to build the laptop.

PURE BS, It only takes me an hour to build a PC, a lappy will add two or three hours plus testing. Man, i hate it when you get excited of ordering something and hits you like a brick when it hasnt made one progress in ONE DAY.

Yes, the wait is the hardest part. It will be worth it though.

the wait is a killer, and BF2 plays fine on my stock 7900gs and only 512mb, which memory should i buy? and money is a issue

sooner06, you just solved my question, how to waste time so you can get your notebook faster? Gaming of course. Im going to play BF2 and Day of Defeat Source.

Thanks sooner06, kudos to you

I was pacing my house all last weekend cause mine was shipped overnight on a friday.... arrrrghhhhh.

but anyway, I haven't found the limits of this machine yet, nor do I feel I will for quite a long time...
they say it takes 7-10 days but in reality that includes the shipment from malaysia to the US

You SHOULD be excited.

I received mine yesterday and I'm completely blown away by this thing. I was worried about all the screen issues but mine looks great, its only flaw being small dark spots in the lower screen corners (practically unnoticeable). I also see almost no sparkle.

WOOO!

Wow, 5-10 days just to put it together? That's b/s. I had mine at my doorstep in 4. Dell almost always ships well under their projected ship dates, so don't worry too much. It usually picks up quickly. Oh, and congrats on the system.

Uh... why didn't you just get an XPS m1710 if you had a % off coupon? Nicer specs for slightly more...

ForceCalibur, dude you got it all wrong, its not a coupon, its discounts and the 35% back-to-school sale was not on the XPS M1710. Besides i was able to use my 12% EPP discount along with it, and E1705's are really not a bad laptop either.

I was thinking of getting the XPS system, but problem is its to flashy and i dont want any to stair at me in class with my "OOO FLASHING LED LIGHTS", you know. Plus their more expensive and i had a tight budget.

Nice lappy, I got my XPSM170 when they were clearing them out a couple months back (Cant beat $1300 for everything you got except the dual core proc and vid card).

I see you run BF2, I just wanted to let you know that the general feel I have seen around here is that if you want to run BF2 at 1920x1200 with all settings maxed (as I do) with no slow down at all, get 2 gigs of memory. NewEgg always has some great deals and I got my 2 gigs for $130 shipped and was able to sell my gig for about $70, making a good part of the money back.

The 7800GTX is pretty close to the 7900GT in most benchmarks so I think you should be very happy with BF2 on your new system.

Not to dampen your enthusiasm but I paid $50 more than you for an M1710 that came with 3 yrs warranty and a better video card (7900 GTX).
