So I threw this 6400 together:

And I'm wondering, will the hard drive/graphics card/slightly bigger battery add that much weight to the original 6.1 pounds? I looked at the battery and the 9-cell was .88 pounds, but not much bigger than the 6 cell at .65 pounds.

Also, is there a way to stop them from putting all the crap that they put on the computer? like office productivity/musicmatch/aol etc. etc. etc.!?

No not bad at all except you can probably go to dell home and using the 35% off deal they are using now probably save about 400 bucks. It will just be an E1505 instead and change the card to the ATI X1400 its faster and you will save another 30 bucks

interesting. changed the gfx. now why is the home office w/ same options almost 200$ cheaper? (e1505 vs 6400)

Usually the Home section is cheaper than office because of all the discounts. Did you pick the configuration that was 35 % off? I actually think you can do better check this out just built it.
