So I threw this 6400 together:
Inspiron 6400 Intel® Core™ Duo processor T2500 (2MB Cache/2GHz/667MHz FSB)
Operating System (Office software not included) Genuine Windows® XP Professional
LCD Panel 15.4 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen SXGA+ Display with TrueLife™
Memory 1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz, 2 Dimm
Video Card 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™Go 7300 TurboCache
Hard Drive 100GB 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive
Network Card and Modem Integrated 10/100 Network Card and Modem
Adobe Software Adobe® Acrobat® Reader 6.0
Combo/DVD+RW Drives 8X CD/DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
Sound Options Integrated Sound Blaster® Audigy™ HD Software Edition
Wireless Networking Cards Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11 a/g, Netgear 802.11g Wireless Router
Office Productivity Software (Pre-Installed) No productivity suite- Corel WordPerfect word processor only
Anti-Virus/Security Suite (Pre-installed) McAfee Security Center with VirusScan, Firewall, Spyware Removal, 15-months
85 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
Dell Service & Support Plans 2 Year On-site Economy Plan
for $1,689... not bad at all.
And I'm wondering, will the hard drive/graphics card/slightly bigger battery add that much weight to the original 6.1 pounds? I looked at the battery and the 9-cell was .88 pounds, but not much bigger than the 6 cell at .65 pounds.
Also, is there a way to stop them from putting all the crap that they put on the computer? like office productivity/musicmatch/aol etc. etc. etc.!?
thanks

Agreed about the point made on the dedicated graphics option.
