So, how hard would it be to put a WUVGA screen on a regulat WXGA+. Is it a simple screen swap operation, or would you need to change settings in BIOS and stuff?

Well, I was thinking of purchasing a M90 from eBay and using my screen on it. I was hoping to get something with the 2500M and 2.16GHz. Now the ones that I've been finding have the inferior screen.

So is it as easy as swaping the screens or will I have to mess with BIOS, etc.?!

Why don't you upgrade the CPU when Merom comes and upgrade the GPU?

I swapped the Truelife 1920x screen on my XPS with a lower res 1440x900 from a 9300. I didn't want the higher res. It wasn't difficult, just a pain in the ass with the cheap screws they used. Stripped 2 so had to fix that. Hard to put enough pressure on them, not nearly as easy as working on the chasis.

If you can do the pin-mod you can do the screen swap.

how do you fix/takeout a stripped screw?

If you do this, how much will you sell your other parts for? I'd be interested in the CPU, the HDD, and the ram. PM me if you figure something out.

Usually you have to drill out a stripped screw. I'm not sure I'd want to with an LCD panel.

i know that trading of screens has happened before. my roomate traded away his non-truelife screen for a broken true-life, and then because he had Complete Care warranty he got a brand new true-life screen.

FYI, im also looking at getting the Glossy Truelife screen, because right now im stuck with the NON-glossy truelife screen.

good luck re-threading a stripped screw unless you're a tool and dye machinist. handily, thats what my father is so its all good in the suburban hood.

It's not that hard...

You might wanna search here on the forums. This has been done here on the forums and I believe there was problems swapping 2 different generations of panels (Gen2 to M1710). Either the new panels won't work in the old systems or vice versa, I don't recall the exact problem.
