Can the 8000 video be upgraded and if so to what? If it can be, where can I get a new card?
Thanks for any info

System Specs list them. And how much are you willing to spend?

system as I know of:
Inspiron 8000
p3 800
ati 32mb
(upgraded) 40gb hdd
This is not my system but a friends at work and this system has run strong for 5 years with one minimal prob such as a keyboard replacement. He installed a second battery and the new hdd just a few weeks ago. I have to say, this machine is a powerhouse when it comes to how long its been around, being that it has not been in the most desired atmospheres (a carbide grinding shop part of the time) As money doesn't seem to be an issue atm, he plans to put a 1ghz in place of the 800 and wanted to know if video cards were swapable as well.

Can you tell me if dell has these cards on there site, or do I need to make a call? If onsite, would you mind offering a link?

Call dell tell them you bought an Inspiron 8200 from ebay and you need to replace the video adapter try to be as sincre as possible since as of late theyve gotten stricter on sending out video adpaters for even the older inspiron systems so id whip up a story and you want this part 5U427 which is the part you have in your hand (wink wink) this is the Radeon 9000 64MB the service tag of course is not handy good luck!
