It was just replaced in March! And they kept the laptop for like 5 weeks! Man, I'de really hate to have to do that again. Also, I'm off warranty...

Does the 7800 run cooler? Maybe I should just snag one of those like I was talking about in that other thread.

You need a certain mobo revision to run the 7800GTX b/c it uses so much power. I think it'll say T or K on a sticker near the RAM sockets, but don't hold me to that.

I have MB revision 6.1

Anyway, I've called up Alienware and bought the ESP thing since I am off warranty. I've explained all my issues (note: there are SEVERAL people having this same problem on the Alienware Support Forums - kind of makes you scratch your head), and they are having me run 3dMark and give them the test results...

I'm afraid I'm going to (again) need to have my Mobo and Vid Card replaced. Second time in 8 months? This is very infuriating.

I opted not to get the Ultra b/c I read about so many people having problems with them on this board. I'm sorry to hear about it, and the T and K versions are for intel and AMD respectively.

OK! I re-installed windows and I got a 5118 in 3DMark05 (I got a 1342 before the re-install). I will install games later to test everyhting out thoroughly, but it looks like I'm back in business!
