Hey everyone.

I've finally finished the M1710 review. It took me a bit longer than I wanted since we were waiting for a 7900GTX model as well, but in the end we just have a single M1710 w the GS to show.

Summary of points in the article:
  • Nice design.
  • Dedicated XPS support channel is interesting.
  • Preloaded software not as bad as I was expecting.
  • DirectMedia button and formatting is an issue (props to the guys here for putting together a great guide on how to fix it ... see page 10 of the article)
  • Speakers have poor sound quality.
  • Performance of the Go 7900 GS is surprisingly good.
  • Good battery life for a 17" laptop (2-2.5 hours depending on application)
  • Hot notebook. Base of laptop read 102F during heavy load.
  • CPU may be upgradable since it just uses Socket 479

Thanks for the help on making this article happen. This forum is an excellent resource for me.
