Hello and welcome!
I too have just received my 5672 (about a week). I also own an Acer Ferrari 4005. The left "mouse" button on my Ferrari is very bad. I have to hit it just right to make it work. The button on this one is much better, but not perfect. I don't know who makes the actual touchpads, but I don't care for them. Although, as I say, this one is definately better than my other Acer.
In looking at my touchpad, I see what appears to be a gap but on very close inspection, there is no space between the plastic housing and the pad surface. Are you able to actually slip the corner of a paper in yours to see if there is an actual space. I would say if there is, between the mouse button and that, I would send it in for repair or swap out where you bought it if possible.
All in all, I really like the 5672. I wiped out my default Windows load, reformatted in NTFS, and merged the two larger partitions into one.
I did leave the first partition alone but I cannot access it. I would imagine there is some sort of restore software on it.
By wiping my system and manually loading Windows as I did, I was able to get everything back except the Acer Arcade and the NTI burning suite. There were no system restore CD's with my system; how about yours?
