Which 15.4 to buy?

I'm torn between four laptops.................a Gateway M465-E ($2,400,) an Alienware M5550 ($2,600,) a Hypersonic Aviator MV6 ($2,300,) and a Dell Latitude D820 ($1,911.)

The Latitude doesn't have a gaming video chip per se, but will work with games. The other three have decent chips. All are configured the same................except the Alienware has a WUXGA while the others have WSXGA screens (which is my preference.)

The only games I play are role playing games. I don't play action games, but might at some point. If it were you, which laptop would you buy?

How about the gateway NX560 Series starting at $899 or the dell inspiron b130 starting at $449 or the inspiron e1505? Just some suggestions.

I just noticed you want to be able to game. I don't know, but if it was up to me I wouldn't spend 2500 dollars on a 15.4" that will barely play new games. How about a desktop or a m1710 (not that much more if not less).

Thanks for your comments, but I am in need of a notebook, so I'm not looking at desktops. I'm also not really looking for a "gaming" notebook..........I'm looking for a business class notebook that will play games. The reason I want a business class notebook is because the technical service on the "business" side is much better than on the Home side.................not only in being able to understand the tech, but in the knowledge of the tech. I've had Dell Inspirons (Home) and I've had Dell Latitudes (Business.) I can't even begin to tell you how much better tech support is on the business side.

I'm intrigued by them, but don't know a single person that has had one, and am a little apprehensive about spending that much money on a computer from a company I know nothing about.

Out of curiousity what is the difference between the tech support of home and business? Any specifics?

I find there is an extreme language barrier (accent barrier) with "home" tech support. It's not that way with their "business" tech support. Every person I've talked to with their "business" tech support has been North American. I've also found that many of the "home" techs don't know much more than I do about what's wrong. They put you on hold, read their manual, then come back and tell you to do something you've already done. I don't find that to be true with their "business" tech support. I also find that hold times are much less through business tech support.

Now, with that said, I've been pleased with the results whenever I've dealt with tech support on either side. It is just harder to communicate on the "home" side.

Sounds like a medieval English punishment- "Have him torn and quartered between 4 laptops....and THEN give him an enema!"

I've always thought Alienware added about $1000 to their price based on hype and brand. Dell owns them now anyway, right?

To get back in a roundabout way to your question,
What about a Sager? Have you looked at them? They host these forums, and are supposed to be tops.

I currently use the D820 and think it is great for what im using it for the speakers could be better but not a huge dissapointment and i have been able to play every game so far just fine at 1680 x 1050 res cs source plays great with around 40 to 60 fps depending on the map.
