Which 15.4 to buy?

I'm torn between four laptops.................a Gateway M465-E ($2,400,) an Alienware M5550 ($2,600,) a Hypersonic Aviator MV6 ($2,300,) and a Dell Latitude D820 ($1,911.)

The Latitude doesn't have a gaming video chip per se, but will work with games. The other three have decent chips. All are configured the same................except the Alienware has a WUXGA while the others have WSXGA screens (which is my preference.)

The only games I play are role playing games. I don't play action games, but might at some point. If it were you, which laptop would you buy?

Gateway IMO is poop. Never liked them, never will. Dell's customer service is awful now, the company has fallen off a great deal. I'd go with the hypersonic or the Alienware. I prefer Hypersonics customer service to that of alienware. I recently had the same kind of decision, canceled my order with Alienware, and went with Hypersonic. My personal opinion would be go with Hypersonic. Prob same or better specs, for less money, and a little better CS.

Doesn't Dell own Alienware? Thus Dell customer service = Alienware customer service!

Figured someone would say that. Should have adressed that. They are owned by dell yes. They are still thier own company though. Thus thier service, is thier service, not dells. Alienware is a subsidiary of dell, meaning they operate basically as thier own company.

Basically, Gateway = crap and Dell = more crap. Your Alienware and Hypersonic choices should be the same end product, with Hypersonic being cheaper and Alienware having the nice little Blue eyes on the cover.

As for Dell buying Alienware. Alienware will still be an entity in and of itself for now. But I foresee a day in the not so distant future (most likely before your 3 year warranty expires) when Dell melds their XPS line with Alienware and Alienware will be a name only, if that.

I'm sure Hypersonic will get swallowed up by some other company just like Alienware. Until then, Hypersonic has my vote.

Alienware's service is awful, they don't know what they're telling you most of the time. And don't speak english too well. Hypersonic ftw.
