Area 51m 7700, Win XP instalation problem (RAID) !!!HELP!!!

Thread Starter
I buy a A51m 7700 last week.
The first and only owner before me just use it for photoshop and some editing programs.

Well.... when i got on my hands, fell like a dream

I searching so many web sites, i know too many specs about D900T clones and all information that my eyes can read, including 40 pages on this forum before posting that one.

Firs problem that i have... overheating playing BF2
Solve: I raise it, and overheat disapear

Second problem... can´t acces the BIOS presing F2
Solve: Update old v1.00.0.1 BIOS to v1.00.0.6 (Download from aw ftp)

I update the KB BIOS too.... added Fn+F2 and Fn+F10 works great

All works fine whitout problems, but need formating (start all over again)

I download driver from clevo, aw ftp, sager, eurocom.. i got last version of everyone if anyone need something just ask for, or send me personal message.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

After my presentation, need your HELP.

- I buy a Sonny USB Floppy Disk Drive for load Promise 376/378 RAID Drivers
- I read all Formating Steps, RAID config, from Alienware Support Web Site

Refer this links

http://4help.alienware.com/cgi-bin/a...D03NzAw&p_li=#

http://4help.alienware.com/cgi-bin/a...D03NzAw&p_li=#

All instalation steps fine... press F6, Press "S", load RAID Drivers, format c:, etc etc
The problem is... between step 6 -7 from second link (before System File Copy), appears windows message "insert Promise Raid Driver on A:/ drive" press Enter Key o F3 to exit.
Floppy is on drive A: press Enter key but don´t read.. is like USB port dont send energy after restart.

Maybe USB Floppy drive works wrong but read drivers without problems before (step "d" first link)

I can´t explain what happend... i try other version of RAID. 1.00.035, 1.00.037, 1.00.039 nothing.
Otrher configurations... NON RAID... same message

If anyone can help me i appreciate so much

Thanks for all.

PD: Sorry my poor English

hi! I owned an aurora m7700 so maybe I can help.

you are doing the correct thig, its just windows setup is not detecting the USB FFD.

your m7700 came with an external ffd, are you using that one, or did you buy a new one.

I had the same problem on my desktop running raid. my internal ffd broke, but I never use it. the time came to reload the os and I bought an external ffd. windows setup did not recognize it, and I ended up getting an internal ffd.

but I have reloaded the m7700 using the usb ffd that came with it, I would try that

I buy a new one External Sonny USB Floppy Drive MPF82E.
Internal FDD for Area51m 7700 is not an option
Maybe the problem is that, but windows recongnize fine when ask first time for Promise Drivers.

i don´t know why instalation ask me second time for RAID Drivers, supose to need it just one

Happy ending

Solved

I create custom Bootable Windows XP Disk whit RAID Promise Drivers Inside.
My alienware fly again

Problem whit USB floppy drives are:
- Win XP instalation load USB drivers on start
- When system restart once, USB drivers don´t load again and instalation setup can´t access A:\ drive.

That´s all

Thanks for help!

It does - making an nLite image for the m9700 is on my list..

Once it's done I could post the ISO someplace for folks (Once I figure out which nForce RAID drivers I need, that is!)

Incidentally, the m9700 sets a USB memory stick as drive A: for the Windows install - wonder if the 7700 does too?
