Now to my question. I was wondering which screen did you end up picking? i am wanting to get the trulife xga but is the sxga+ worth it.

I like the SXA screen with Truelife perfect..To be quite honest, if the res was any smaller I might consider returning it. It's perfect and not worth the extra $100. Also, the screen is super bright, after an hour on max brightness, it started giving me a headache..until I turned it down. And now I love it alot!

lol, i fed mine with coke and then he refused a cup of tea

you're right about the sxga, its the most lovable part of my notebook, bought a dell just because of the high res.
another thing: can we have a pic with the lava lamp on that you have in the bacground (looks like it) and rest of the lights off. will make for a good pic.

Yea I will try. Also, what is that ambient light sensoR?
ALS is unfortunately only available on Dell India. Even M1210 in India come with ALS tech. Keeping it simple, it adjusts the brightness of the screen according to the ambient light. Not useful most of the times, but when outside, i dont have to keep adjusting the brightness accordingly.
Well useful when you're working with curtains drawn and when your gf takes draws them apart to say good morning, doesnt feel too much on the eyes

I also have one of those, although they are called Inspiron 6400 here in Europe. The screen is lovely!

My configuration:
Intel CoreDuo 1,83GHz
1GB RAM
ATI X1400 256MB
80GB 5400rpm HDD
15,4" WSXGA+ with TrueLife.

A2TheRizzo, I must say that you have a very ugly stereo system! :P

I love this monitor for the price I paid. (220) about 4 months ago at Buy.com when the Viewsonics were going for 300. DVI isn't worth $80 IMO.

Str4nge, I love them.

Just ordered this setup for my dad along with the copilot nav 9 gps and mobility bundle....figures he can use this....he's in the marine corps and does alotta traveling inspecting aircrafts.....figure this should handle all his needs and then a bit more, wanted to get him something a lil more durable, and the computers they give him at work are like 3years old...only thing i would have thrown in here is a pcmcia smart card reader, but i couldn't really find a option to do so, guess i will just add one later and install the certificates from his card on his system so he can log on to there VPN........so how does everybody like there E1705???? any complaints or annoyances?? i know i should have waited for merom, but i figured this should handle his needs and upted his battery to the highest they had available,
