Phases - Just what can I expect

Hi I just ordered my first ever Alienware; Aurora m7700. I've been on phase 3 for a few days. Just what can expect and how long does it take to move through the phases. I see some people posting that they have had the goods before the phases have completed. But honesty does it take a long time, how many weeks to build it and ship it? AW give quite foggy answers on this so not to promise too much!

BTW I'm in the UK!

Iam in the UK too - I ordered on the 26 June and iam still in phase 3 - but i ordered an Aurora 7500 and some parts were on backorder - just depends if your spec includes any parts that may delay the normal build time

oh no that makes me nervous!!!

I ordered on the 18th of July and Phase 1 and 2 went by pretty fast. Paid with a credit card and it took until midday on the 19th to show me in Phase 3.

I sat in Phase 3 for the last 2 days (seems like an eternity but only 2 days).

I am now in Phase 5.

The good thing about the Phases is that you know how far along your computer is in the process. The bad thing about them is that you'll probably find yourself checking them quite frequently. I know I did. My job doesn't require a whole lot out of me so I'll sit at home half the day and play on teh puter. I think I found myself checking the phases almost every 30-45 minutes. (Obsess much? )

I'm going to try and not sweat it too much so hopefully the time will go by a little faster, but for some reason this puter is on the top of the list of things I think about. I don't think the g/f really approves of that but she'll survive.

ETA: I've been typing my email address 10x faster in the past 2 days, not that it really makes a difference.

I'm in phase 6 atleast right now. I don't know if they work on the weekends so I could be farther along. I was stuck in 3 for like 2 weeks. It's so painful.

icweniner, 1st delay was waiting for 2GB memory and the G15 keyboard, they have apparantly arrived now, waiting for the 700W PSU's now!!!!

And they don't do the Conspiracy Blue cases anymore that i ordered but I've been on the phone and they said one had been put aside for my order.

As far as production starting I phoned on Friday and got told it was starting on Monday, then I got email Saturday morning saying still waiting for parts so phoned again and guess what emails correct phone call on Friday was wrong.

I wonders if the UK AW is faster than the US AW at getting machines out there seems to be a lot waiting across the Atlantic, also it seems the more high end cutting edge bespoke machines take loads longer because they are just non standard configs. I'm thinking from what AW UK say that the more standard stuff is dispatched much easier, if the bits are in stock. the m7700 i ordered was quoting early august for delivery but now due to a delay on the WUXGA screens the new orders are showing 21 aug. otherwise it would be quicker!

I think the alienwares that are shipped to the uk are built in europe.
