There is no such thing as a 186 Intel CPU.

Also, Merom is here already if you know where to look. I bought an Aspire 5672 with an ATI X1600 for $1049.00, and just plopped a brand new T7400 ES CPU in it. It is plug and play, and it is MUCH MUCH faster than Yonah. And Yonah is faster than dual core AMD64's clock for clock in most things.

If you want a fast laptop just get a Core Duo and a really fast hard drive. The HDD is the slowest thing in most lappys.

Are you sure? Intel obviously think that the 186 exists, and they should know.

They were called 8086 and 8088 when they came out. I guess they decided to call them the 186 series when the 286, 386, 486, etc.... came around.

So if an 8086 is a 186, why isn't the 8088 called the 188?
