sweet! thanks, i just bought some dvd+rw, 15 bucks for 10 at target. how do you like it so far? are you using the graphic drivers 83.63 or something like that? or the 91 series one? also, i've seen you talk about dell's extensive hardware diag test, what is it? is it a program that does it for you, or a longer test you do yourself?

I'm loving the m1210. I had Inspiron 9400 but I returned it to Dell due to heat / video sensor issue which they confirmed as hardware issue. The sound system of Inspiron 9400 is mucho better than m1210 but after few tweaks on the mixer, bass, sound settings in m1210... it is now acceptable and has improved.

I upgrade the nvidia video card driver to 84.69 (from Dell website) as I'm not comfortable yet at this time to upgrade to higher version. Will upgrade later to 9x driver series if there is full mobile support.

Regarding Dell extensive test, it is the hidden partition. It's called Dell Diagnostic Test. Turn your notebook, hit F12 when you see the dell logo. Choose Dell Diagnostic from the list of boot menu. It will run initial test. When done.. it will load the dell diag menu. Choose the extensive test (note: it's gonna be a long test).
Mine passed the extensive test. I have to run that test because I've seen the Inspiron 9400 that I returned to fail a lot test (video thermostat - sensor and others). When there is error code, call Dell. They'll tell you whether it is a hardware issue. If the notebook is new, you can ask for replacement or let them fix if you don't want replacement.

Well, it doesn't matter IMHO as long as the media type saved the backup properly.
The important thing is I capture as backup the hard-drive before I turn on the notebook to accept the EULA and boot to Windows.

I am going to plug m1210 to my LCD TV. I'm not sure but FMS seems required to do that.

Cool. Thank you! Will jump to supported v9.x tomorrow and I'll see how it works for me.

Again, thanks!

I jumped to to version 9.29 and I was greeted with BSOD. I moved to 91.31, same thing occur -- BSOD for PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

The famous stop error code is 0x00000050 which is the display adapter

I went back to v84.69 by Dell. No BSOD. Will stay on it first :-)

you need to do clean install if youve instsalled any other drivers anytime then its no go
post #33 of 33
I know. I uninstalled it before installing a new one. That's what I always do whenever I'll upgrade or downgrade
Not sure why it gave me BSOD but I'm fine for now with 84.69. Will patiently wait for another supported 9 series.

TY.
