Very thorough review, despite a few inaccuracies scattered throughout (2GB of RAM isn't the minimum config, you can turn the touchpad LED off, 500mhz DOES make a difference, etc).

What do you have to do to turn the touchpad LED off? Mine is driving me nuts.

open quickset (double left cick) go to gaming options & look at the top right

Solapathy, I was told in another thread that you can also turn off all the other lights through quickset. Can you confirm?

You can turn them all of through the bios. I did. I don't have any of my LEDs on

Thanks. Reassuring to know that you can eliminate the "juvenile factor". No disrespect intended, JMO.

I 100% agree. Fun to show off for 2 minutes, and then to never be seen again. I'd rather have saved the money it cost to have them in there.

Erm yes, but later in the review they say 2GB is the minimum configuration. I quote: "The results above show strong results for the M1710 thanks to faster memory timings at 667MHz bus compared to the rest. 2GB is the smallest memory configuration you can get from Dell and you can get up to 4GB." http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid...=expert&pid=13

heh it's nice looking at a LAN party

From the first 2 pages of the article, I am starting to have my doubts as to whether or not they either proofread it, or know what they're talking about.

"GeForce Go 7000 GTX" as the option above the 7900 GS

"The hard drive spins at 7200 RPM (better than the typical 4800 RPM or 5200 RPM units)" - They make 4800 and 5200 rpm drives? i thought they were 4200 and 5400...
