Not bad. I just picked up two sticks of ram at newegg; $160 for 2 one gig sticks of OCZ 667 ram.

You might want to install I8kfan to monitor your GPU when gaming. http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/index.html

Enjoy!

Great deal!!! I just bought an E1705 too, 1.86Ghz(i think) with no vid card (integrated) for just under $1,000 incl tax.

.

yea im so glad i found a sweet deal, ive been looking for the past month, and dell outlet is pretty much a hit or miss as fast as things sell, so the 7800 video card is far superior then a x1600 and things right? i should have absolutley no prob playing current games and such?
7800 is still a great card and is far superior to the x1600. You should be able to play all the newest games, at respectable quality settings. Keep in mind, you can always upgrade to the 7900 series cards if you really need to.

Nice deal too.

awesome deal!!! thats what i like to hear, i originaly wanted a e15 but only the x1400 is the best card u can get right now, and its prob a marketing scam lol but o well 17 inch screen will be a bit nicer playing games and such,, wont have to squint! also good to know i can upgrade it later on if i decide to least its a option? i plan on getting a sata hard drive would that make a dif?? also at least a 1g for sure, but i cant buy it right away, do you think it would play hitman blood money with 512mb of ram? pretty much everything will be upgradable even the processor to that new one i hear about merom or something, one more question anyone bought refurbished from dell before?? hows it working to this day? thanks alot.

I'd sugggest putting a 7900GS in their, and selling the 7800. It'd be cheap (Like 200 most after selling the 7800), and you can overclock to make it run like a 7900GTX.

7900GS Dual Pipe = $350
-7800 Go Selling Price = $150-$200
----------------------------------
$200-$150 upgrade.

As for Merom, it's going to be good, really good. It's a 64-Bit dual core processor you can drop into your laptop without a hitch. Price? Around $300 for the good one, the one with over 2Ghz clock speed and 4MB L2 cache.

And memroy, 2GB is nessary for games these days. IF you want to MAX them out. 1GB will do just fine for most. But I'd still suggest 2GB.

if you tight on money, what I'd suggest the most is the memory. Then go for the Merom processor. It's only comming out in about 2-3 weeks, so prices right now are going to be high. Wait a little bit for the price to circulate around till you can get it for a good deal. Same with the 7900Gs.

No ones mentioned it yet... but the 7800 is the GPU which runs hot for allot of people. You might want to monitor the temp levels for a while.. Keep track, document in case you need to get the GPU replaced. This thread might have some info that may be of help: http://www.notebookforums.com/thread164448.html

k thanks for the info, ive been reading in the dell 17 inch + forum about some heat problems and dell replacing them and whatnot, but I will for sure keep good tabs on it, would a 7200rpm sata hard drive help me out much for gaming or would a ided 5400 be fine? whats the dif between sata and ided?
The E1705 is using the SATA hard disk drive only.
