HELP!!! Hypersonic Aviator EX7

I’m calling anyone for help PLEEAASE!!!

To begin let me tell my story…
I own a P.O.S. Hypersonic Aviator EX7. Spec’s are 3.6GHz, 4GB DDR2 533, 60GB 7200rpm (x2). RAID Controller, ATI x800 etc… I placed the order MAR 05 received MAY 22 2005, after over 4weeks delay from my assured receive date. I asked for it to be rushed some since I was hoping to get it before I went oversea’s to Japan (remember Japan is +14 hours) and paid for overnight. It wasn’t really much of a rush because of how long they had to do it when I didn’t even get a custom paint or reflexxion series style (for time’s sake). This only began the series of bad events…

Problem #1 - I received it the day before my flight at last shipment for UPS (let me remind you I did pay for overnight). I did choose not to pay for any OS and easily went around this with slipstreaming the drivers into a copy of WinXP I already owned no problem.

Problem #2 - No tech support because I didn’t buy their copy of XP. I will bite the bullet here and figured at least it worked.

Problem #3 - After using it for 3-4 months it crashed and then my major problems started. First thought it was nothing but it did it again then like 45 min later again. I didn’t understand why since I use a heat pad for it and make sure airflow is rolling through. Thought maybe virus’s and reloaded windows after doing a complete HD wipe. Then the problem was seen… loaded windows worked just fine then I loaded the ATI video driver and it completely was discolored and the screen moved like a wave from side to side. I tried every driver you can imagine trying new ones old ones and everything inbetween. I finally gave up and called tech support.

Problem #4 They said they can’t help me because I didn’t buy WinXP from them and instead had to call MS. So I did the only thing that would work cause dealing with MS gets you nowhere. After receiving Hypersonic’s version of XP Pro nothing changed. I called back and now they would talk to me. I told them what happened and that I believed that either the Video card went or the Mobo was gone.

Problem # 5 - The tech would not give me any direction over the phone and told me to start tech support via email.

Problem #6 - I email them receiving a reply in about 2 weeks. It only was SUPER basic things like Did you turn your computer on? Is the WinXP CD in the drive? Finally after 2 months after emailing every week I received a reply. I will leave his name out since I wouldn’t want to bring any misfortune to him even though it really should. I then began BCC’ing tech support on every email I sent him so a record could be kept. Obviously I emailed him directly.

Problem #7 - This still took a minimum 8 business days to receive a reply. Finally no reply came and I received an email from another person who finally decided to replace the video card (this is 7 ½ months later). I shipped him mine and received the new one and took about a month total. This did NOT fix the problem and ONLY left the mobo for replacement. There really isn’t much discussion about the math… Symptoms + already the replacement of the video card = Replace Mobo. Finally they asked for me to send it in.

Problem #8 – I was told a minimum of 6 weeks to begin reship back to me (I sent the package priorty to Great Neck, NY where I was instructed to send it). Negative no way shape of form did this ever happen they kept my laptop now until 4 days ago it’s now July 22, 2006 (it’s the 21st in the states). Before I continue here’s more…

Problem #9 – Everytime I called I had to dial 1-800-520-0498. AGAIN remember I am oversea’s and this costs me money it’s not free EVERY phone call was expensive. Anyways I was given BS answer’s everytime I called (this place doesn’t begin to open until 10am (0000 my time). I was told the mobo they received didn’t work and was ordering another one (they must have gone through 8+ mobo’s here).

Problem #10 - Then I was told that my mobo was no longer made and they could do nothing.

Problem #11 - I had to threaten to see a lawyer and reminded them that they could replace with higher piece parts at their discretion as long as the consumer (myself). Wow this turned heads and all of a sudden a late Thursday my NY time turned to shipment on Tuesday (imagine that). Unfortunately one problem did occur the video card still was not working and they replaced it with a nVidea GForce 6800 ULTRA. I don’t have a problem with this… never would have and probably should have gone with nVidea to begin with but whatever. So the laptop shipped back starting Wednesday. First as I received it I’ll add this… Everything was new… looks like they replaced the entire laptop from HD’s to proc and only put my bottom half of the cracass since you can’t really replicate oily hand marks and stickers.

Problem #12 – So my laptop is back and it was not raided matter of fact it had nothing on it no OS at all. Oh well lets install… Now I tried everything from new drivers to old drivers for the Raid even the ATA. I read online that for F6 drivers you need the most basic of all floppy’s. SO I went out into Japan and found a few of them they were relatively cheap compared to my already increasingly large expense of a computer so I bought a few. Well none worked… so I’m back to slipstream. It apparently loads with the RAID driver and Windows XP begins to load YAY!!!!!!!!!!! but it error’s, yes a blue screen of death, and dies reboots immediately. This change is so fast that my camera won’t even pick it up. Occassionally another error of 0x0000007B comes and goes at will really. Reading MS online support that this could indication a boot sector virus I decided to say %^&* to hypersonic support and bought new HD’s and received the same indications… SO back on the beat to get tech support from Hypersonic.

Problem #13 – I requested to speak to the tech or whoever the customer support guy talks to when he puts you on hold for an hour and to my surprise he actually let me (after my long story to him). This guy tells me I need a Targus-compatible floppy to load windows. WTH! What is this targus-compatible floppy seriously it’s a brand not a standard?!!?!? Who believes this? So after some time of uh complaints he says he’ll sell me one half price. Ok sure why not…

SO here are my questions while I wait for this floppy drive to get here… What is a targus-compatible floppy drive? What standard does this use? Why does the error’s occur? What else can I or should I do? Cause I’ve put over 5.5k into this laptop from shipping to other parts and I bought another 2k laptop so I have something that works. (Hypersonic does not return ship to FPO AP so I pay for both ways this my only way to receive so I HAVE to pay it) At this point I’m frustrated, disappointed, pissed off and anything else you can imagine… and will NEVER buy a Hypersonic computer again and will discourage anyone else to buy one. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM. !!!!!!!!!!!!MY LAPTOP DOES NOT WORK AND IT'S OVER A YEAR BROKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED THANKS.

damnnnnn So far my experience hasn't been THAT bad with them. Other than it took nearly 4 months to get it due to me having an APO address and that 3 of my fans started failing after 2 weeks of owning it, making it unplayable!! But otherwise all my emails were answered within 1 day and the phone calls were very straightforward and they never asked me obvious stuff like you mentioned. They sent me a 1 day overnight shipping label which I received after 3 days. They've had my laptop since the 13th and said it will take 10-12 days.

And I really have no idea why you would need an actual floppy drive to load windows. Nor what a targus-compatible floppy drive is!

Ex7

NOTE: I attached the old hard drives to USB via USB to IDE cable (these are commom place in japan and super cheap). Looks like one drive is shot it's stuck in Dyanmic it can open after format but will NOT go back to a basic drive from windows and dos. Meaning after USB addon it will open like a normal drive but if you go to disk management you can't see anything "about" the drive nor can you defrag ect... The other was salvaged.

I know there are some selling points on RAID - but have you tried just installing the system in a non-RAID format and see how it runs? Just to make sure there are no other problems - and hopefully you are able to use it until you can make heads-or-tails of the RAID situation?

That being said - I am not aware of a targus-compatible floppy drive, as targus is not a standard. I would assume a USB drive should work with no issues. But I do know there are some definite tricks with that system and the RAID. And from what I have read - it does include using the diskette. But I never went with RAID - and I can not provide you support on that.

I have tried loading a non-RAID windows and the same thing that happens with RAID happens with ATA. At first Windows would not load... After the slipstream Windows "appears" to completely load and when it begins the first full boot after installation it error's after about 3 seconds of the boot screen starting to load. I have tried to capture this error with my digital camera but it's just that fast and can't get a picture.

As for the Floppy only assumption I have it that this is just something they use in shop that works. My experiance with these tech specialists is they know jack squat and you end up laughing at their explainations...

I will definitely look into this and hope to help you resolve these issues.

Pat I would honestly be much appreciated if you did. I'm so tired of it not working. I honestly don't know why this is a problem since everyone else I know who owns a Hypersonic has little to no problems and if they do it's resolved very quickly.
Thanks.

i didnt read all the answers...but you dont have to and I recomend you dont slipstream the drivers into windows......install windows...then install the drivers acording to the order in the manual.....if you opted for Raid array you will have to load those drivers on a floppy and use the F6 key when you install windows..ok now I will read all the answers
post #9 of 13
also you cant change a dynamic drive back..you have to reformat that drive..you can change a drive to dynamic in windows..you just cant change it back...if you look into the windows help file you will see this......again have you trid to load either raid or sata drivers using f6 and then the other drivers in the order stated in the manual...or did you slipstream all drivers into windows..are you oading xp...xpsp1...xpsp2......I think you are having driver issues...you have to install thyem acording to the manual.......

I just re-readf your post...and I had to go out and buy a usb floppy for my EX7 the forst day I got it...it blue screened and locked up while registering it...10 minutes out of the box and I was on my way to wal-mart to get parts.....well I just bought a 30 buck usb floppy and made my f6 floppy and everything went fine...but from reading posts like yours and some others is why I havent asked to send mine back for performance issues...talked to them on the phone several months ago and am still waiting for the call back ...lol....anyway I wont take anoter chance on a high dollar..so caled high end machine again...for laptops I will stick with Comp-Usa where I can see and feel them first...Toshiba I got my wife is a sweet machine...has eaid 0 and tons more.....cost...under 2,800....with a sweet targus case...its a QOSMIO...and I am currently looking at their nw gamming rig...specs look great...will have to go to atlanta and check one out...but first will wait for vista....I am real disaponted with Hypersonic......I have been looking for a gamming set up for a new desktop for the wife ..but cant find anything cost vs options that are worth it...and I am trusting compuiter builders less and less...I realy dont have the time to build it my self...but I think I have no choice...man It pisses me off that Dell went down hill...I use to love them....but after my xps purchase a few years ago I cant trust them any longer...whats has happened to the home pc industry......all the builders are realy giving us the finger I guess word of mouth no longer worries them............I may E-bay my EX7..its loaded...no custom paint though....

I tried windows dos everything for changing the dynamic drive back but nothing works. If I load it by usb into a windows install it recognizes it's dynamic and can use it reformat it anything but see it in computer management. I'm not to sure why that is or how it still works when computer management still says it's corrupted. Windows at it's best...

Yeah I will never buy a Hypersonic again probably will stick to an alienware or who knows.

you will have to reformat to change a dynamic drive back...you can crete a dynamic drive within windows but you cant change it back within windows...you will have to boot to your windows disk and wipe out the drive...parttiton it ....format...reload windows......you also have to have the SATA or Raid drivers on a floppy and use the f6 option while its loading files and follow the on screen instructions........and any USB floppy should work...
