NP9750 Beeps on Reboot

I recently bought a Sager NP9750 with the FX-60 Processor and GeForce 7800 GTX Go Video Card with 1 gig of Ram. Lately I have had an interesting situation where when I restart the notebook it will sometimes beep 1 long and 2 short and it will be stuck in this loop until I turn it off by holding down the power button. I also have had problem where when I play games for any length of time the notebook will crash with a blue screen and reference the nv4_disp.dll file is to blame. I have no performance problems when the game is running but after 1 hour or 6 hours the computer will just all of the sudden crash with the prior issue. Not sure what kind of steps I should take to resolve my problem. Thank you in advance because any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well I would first try the basics. The nv4.disp.dll is the Nvidia drivers. I would download this program Driver Cleaner Pro. GEt the latest Video drivers, Uninstall the nvidia drivers, reboot into safe mode by pressing f8 at bootup. Run Drver cleaner Pro and clean out all Nvidia stuff and do a driver reinstall. If your a noob get some one with some experiance to help you.

I have already went through this process many times. I have used the Sager drivers on their site. I have also installed the drivers from laptopvideo2go, 90 and 80 version drivers and the mobile series Go drivers from nvidia's site.

The error that I'm getting has come up with every version of the driver that I have installed. In addition, the process you stated here is the one that I normally use when reinstalling nvidia drivers on my notebook and on my desktop.

If it would help I only normally get this issue when I'm playing world of warcraft. When I'm just casually using the computer I normally have no problems.

Also, do you have any ideas what the beeps may mean when the system reboots some times? I normally get 1 long beep and 2 short beeps. This will not always happen in accordance with the window blue screens.

I to use the laptop also to play WoW. You have to use that driver cleaner and get that nv4.disp.dll file deleted in safe mode. The beeps do mean something, make sure that the bios is set up correctly. I would turn off the card readers for one. I for got the meaning of the length of beeps, sure those can be searched on Google.

Alright I will turn off the card reader. I also uninstalled the nvidia drivers and installed the new ones that were posted on the Sager website for the 7800 GTX only. Also, I noticed that the via drivers were different versions so I reinstalled those from the sager site as well. The blue screens have not happened since but I'm going to be playing a lot tonight so we will have to see how it performs. I will also take your advice and disable the card reader for now.

I will do research on the beeps and get back to you. As for the bios being setup right, I have not touched it since it was sent from the factory. Is there something paticular that I should look at that is critial to being correct? I'm not very familiar with notebook bioses like I am the bios on desktops.

I looked up the beep codes and I found that it is likely a video error. Is there any way to resolve this issue? Could this be caused by a setting in the bios?

Your biggest issue is making sure before you install new drivers that the nv4.disp.dll is deleted. That can only be done in safe mode. The driver cleaner pro works great for that. I sound like a broken record on that but its critical, I use the 84.21 for now. Go into bios and in advanced disable Power on bootbeep disabled. Also make sure that Sata raid is disabled if you don't have raid and the reader is disabled. I have mine setup to first boot from hard drive so it boot quicker. but if you reinstall it needs to back to cd boot then HD. Anything more with your laptop I would call Sager. Good luck
