Hey all, thanks so much for your input and encouragement in my last post. By the time I checked all the posts, the thread had already been locked. BTW, i purchased the basic MB. Of course my upgraded ram is on its way from newegg 
My first mac purchase has become somewhat frustrating. Let me explain...I purchased my MB the other night from amazon. Amazon offered the cheapest mb that i could find (999 after rebate). Apple charges tax in my state, and amazon doesnt.
The problem came when i went to add an item to the same order. To make a long story short, amazon misplaced my order number, then they found it, then they were unable to add anything to my order (i.e. a laptop case) so i just had them keep the order the same. Then they told me it was out of stock...great. They tell me it will be in stock 8/1 and they gave me free overnight shipping for my trouble.
Perhaps i should have gone with apple.com...but oh well. im saving about 100 bucks by going with amazon.
