YOWZA, that's a cool color! - Page 2

Wouldn't the keys stick if they did paint everything including the keyboard. Also i dont think i would like everything to be painted because I feel there needs to be contrast between different parts of the laptop's paint job.

Exactly. Also, I have a feeling any more paint, and you would start running into trouble making stuff fit, since things like the MP3 player are designed to be held so snuggly.

Cheers.

Well for more cost they could pull off each key and paint them and then reinstall. although i dont really care about color of keyboard.. would be nice for all 1 color to be showing when it was closed though..

That's not an issue. The paint job is extensive and covers ALL the outside, save the contrast details here and there.

Cheers.

Just a two-week follow-up...

Well, I've had this thing for 2 weeks, and I must say I am quite happy.

I have RMA'd the mp3 player, but other than that, everything is great.

I did get a stuck pixel in the lower-left, but it's not too bad. Maybe I'll name it.

The paint-job is still real impressive to people. Heck, I even find myself rubbing the palm rest - feeling the texture and admiring the color.

Definately worth it! Plus it easily stands out! (which may not be a good thing if you need to keep a low-profile).

I can't wait to see others put up photos of their custom colored laptops...

Freak? YES.

Only one? NO.

Hey Yale, why don't you post some pictures (do you have a custom color?)

not bad

Not bad, but hey, PCTORQUE, does anybody know if colorware will do a red (a deeper red) color? Ive asked before, but to no avail. And, if thats the only color closest to red, i may consider, or ill just go with blue...

It did not work. I could read a SD card, but could not add/delete/move/create folders, etc.

It also wouldn't format any SD cards.

THEN, when I did put an mp3 in the root directory (via my Palm Tungsten-T) it wouldn't play correctly. It popped and chirped on every mp3. I could play the same mp3 on the same SD card in my Tungsten-T with Aeroplayer, so it was definately the mp3 player.

That bedding is a nice color!!

So, where did you get the comforter/sheets?

Seriously though, very nice set-up. I also use the laptop desk for my 8886. Enjoy!!!!!!

In my experiences, it is a bit darker in person. I think the flash lightened up the color.

awesome. Too bad colors are gone at least for right now. They brought a level of uniqueness to those of us that purchased a laptop with them.

Definitely inform the uninformed. I'm looking at the 5670 and the 8887, should I get either, I'd look to get them painted. How and where would I get this done? BTW, if I get the 5670 I plan on customizing the wrist panel. Also, where to get the matching mouse...it looks hot!

Unfortunately there's no place we can recommend for paint jobs other than maybe hypersonic-pc.com We used to offer color options, but you void your Sager warranty doing so.

Has anyone had experience with unethicalbusinesspeople.com? They have 24 different colors to choose from.

Umm yeah.. that's the company that Pc Torque had doing theirs till they had problems with not wanting to follow through on warranty details etc.. from what adam's said it sounds like a good idea to stay away from them..

I just checked the hypersonic site and it appears they are only selling the 8887 version in standard silver so no color options there.

Hmm i wonder if they are having second thoughts with their color company too.. i noticed that thewy have the pictures of the different colors on the main page but the configurator does only seem to allow silver/graphite right now

Actually it looks like they have just switched to a new model instead of 56xx i just noticed in the list of options it has the color video camera integrated.... so that might be reason..
