While their paint COLORS are nice, it is not a complete paintjob; perhaps this is for warranty issues, I don't know, but I did not like the sides being left grey. I sure hope something is worked out in the next few years - so when I go to replace my 8887 I'll have another custom-colored laptop to replace it with.

Hypersonic is very expensive. I'm not sure if I like the partial paintings but they look like they're very nicely done. For the price they're charging you could get some unbelievable upgrades here at PCTorque.

Where did you buy the custom color. Pc torque doesn't seem to have that option on their site.

I got it back when PC Torque did business with a third-party painting company. Unfortunately, this third-party painting company can no longer be trusted to uphold the warranties that they are responsible for, so the colors are no longer offered.

WOO-HOO: Number 1800!

Since my other "Woo-Hoo" banana posts are GONE (I have screenshots, though) I'll have to post here, in my traditional way:

Here's to post #1,800 - a banana for every ONE HUNDRED posts:

Ah... a tradition re-born... now, why did that other thread get deleted...
(i can guess).

does the 8887 have a cable connection in the back if not then how do you get tv with thetv tuner? And does it come with the mps player?
can you view cable television with the TV tuner ?

mp3

Does the laptop come with the mp3 and its the card for the mp3 that you have to buy? I know about the cards and own one but i just need to know about the mp3?

p.s. the new 1g card just came out for any hardcore mp3rs
post #50 of 73
I think you can buy it with or without a memory stick to come with it

Yes, the 8887 has a cable connection in the back, if you get the TV tuner. Just plug your cable in and you got TV.

Or you could hook it up to your aerial if your are that far in the boonies. or to your satellite connection or whatever. Heck, your own camera or VCR or whatever other video you have.

The laptop comes with the MP3 player which has a 32 mb SD chip in it. The chip is removeable and you can replace it with up to 256 mb ($65 at Costco) maybe even 512. They are talking about 1g chips soon and a 4 g chip is in the works.

The memory stick port is on the other side and is separate.

Yes, he sent it in to get the color. You can also paint it yourself (but you'll likely void the warranty if you open the case) but beware, you could also muck it up real good if you don't mask it well, paint vapor is not good for electronics.

They have less than reputable business practices and ethics. Basically, these forums do not wish to steer users in their direction, as said users have an outstanding chance of getting burned should warranty work be needed.

Couldn't one just use a brush to paint a laptop (if it sounds stupid tell me, I am not exactly in the know when it comes to mods) but, it seems if you taped it up well enough you could get away with it...O.o

ALSO...

how far does the laptop screens go? I mean when you open them up, because I know where you can buy those Neck Port props from The Matrix and TM:R and I wanted to glue one to the top of my laptop when I receive it, a neat little decoration and tribute to the matrix....unfortunatly its made of pewter so....I want to know if the screen does totally 180 degree's flat or does it stop or what...

I'm going to put painters tape over the cover top, and use acrylic and paint one of my paintings. I don't think it will void the warranty as long as I don't drip any paint onto the actual laptop.

Right?

You ever get around to this? I'd like to see some photos (in-progress/finished work) as I'm sure others would, too.
