hi all ,i just bought mine a week or so ago and am very happy with it so far!! The other night i started up wow and all of a sudden the graphics were stuttering and the screen was acting up. i have not messed with the drivers at all and the 7900gs has behaved up to this point so far np. However, i noticed that the battery was at 25% and once i plugged it into the ac the graphics were fine? take it out glitchy....back in normal....just wondering if this was normal for the videocard to be acting? BTW i had the laptop on balanced.

I believe that's normal. When your battery power goes down to that point, the video card is just not getting enough juice and it goes whacko.

i agree with wallpya. I think it has something to do with the battery power. The more graphic games u play on battery the more graphic problems u will b having. I have experience that while playing call of duty 2 on battery power. Not to mention half an hour of play will bring a battery from 100% to 10% in half an hour.

...Actually the issue is caused because the video card goes into a reduced power state in order to conserve battery power. You will see these options iunder disply properties/settings/advanced/powermizer...

Don't worry we spent a lot of money getting these laptops we all would want to know any small glitch. Especially of course if it is a game issue because that is why we bought these laptops in the first place. Glad to hear you fixed it with the new drivers (i was about to advise that but you beat me to it). By the way everyone with the current XPS w/ any dedicated highend videocard will notice performance loss running on battery. You can even check it out yourself when the clocks go down when you unplug your powerbrick. You can also use ATI tool as well which I currently use.
