I just use a live cd Knoppix STD actually! IT works great that way as for actually instaling it I know there are a few guys on here that have and seem to have no problems!

I installed slackware 9 on my Sentia and ran it just fine with all the drivers loading automatically except the wireless card. I understand that there is beta drivers for the Intel 2100 card, but I just wanted to leave it alone for now.

I tried installing Fedora Core 1 on my new Sentia, and while it installed okay, it runs dog slow. Looking in /proc/cpuinfo leads me to believe that the CPU is thought to be 600Mhz! The kernel is 2.4.23. Anyone have any ideas what might be going on? This is pretty much the only place that I have come across that talks about Linux on the Sentia / Uniwill 244. Thanks in advance.

my first guess would be to update your kernel to the new 2.6.5 because that alone is extremely fast and may fix the problem. Also, what would REALLY help would be to just compile your whole thing from source.

It might well be running at 600Mhz if you have speedstep enabled.

The problem is the standard kernel does not like memory in excess of about 900MB. You need to use a kernel that can utilize 1GB + of memory. Fedora should have a precompiled kernel in the distro to use or you can recompile yourself. Removing one of your RAM chips will get you good performance so that you can install another kernel or recompile one.
