64-bit in near future.. - Page 3

Hello everyone,

I've been totally out of the loop when it comes to keeping up with processor technology. I was curious if the new Northwood processors are 64 bit? My intial guess is no but I wanted to ask everyone anyway. Thanks....

not to my knowledge.. this was in response to northwood being 64 bit

Thanks for the info.. What is the next line of intel processor's called after Northwood? Will they be 64 bit?
After Northwood is Prescott and they are not 64 bit. They're still 32 bit and they run hotter than the Northwoods, so I'm not sure how well they will do in laptops. Beyond that Intel just made the earth-shattering announcement that they, too, have 'developed' a 64 bit chip to go head to head with poor little AMD. Of course, its really just a copy of the AMD A64 (but don't let anyone know that, Intel has a reputation to maintain).

Best performance for the best price? A64. Someone tell Clevo to get on the ball.

I hope Mr Clevo is reading this thread. I would have gone to Sager if they had an A64, so tough luck Sager i am off elsewhere. Shame 'coz i did like you and Pctorque!

don't forget to post a review of your laptop because that will decide whether i will get the cyberpower notebook or not
post #51 of 202
Don't forget? lol, its stuck in my head like a britney spears song (eek did i just say that?) Don't worry, plenty of pics and a full review of it.

Yeh post a review soooooon! I am still in agony deciding which of the A64 notebooks to go with. I also work abroad so I would like a vendor with some international (well the UK) and it seems that only Voodoo is "worldwide" but they cost so much more. Voodoo have seem to offer a good upgrade path

fiction1337: That's the laptop I am leaning toward myself. I may try to hold off for an m11 upgrade, but then again, maybe not. I hope your experience with Cyberpower is such that I will have the confidence to order from them. Good Luck.

I can't wait for your review!

DeaDLoK: I am about to place an order with Hypersonic as they seem to have a good reputation, but like photogeek i would prefer someone with more support outside the US
post #55 of 202
Do all these Mitac based notebooks from the different vendors have the same screen (15” SXGA+) The Hypersonic states that is a high contrast screen (not sure of the ratio, maybe 300:1 or 400:1). fiction1337 please let us know what yer tink of de screen on your Cyberpower. Now i have britney spears in my head!!
PS the contrast ratio is 300:1

What's the dead pixel policy for CyberPower? Anyone know?
