HELP: me buy an e1505

Alright gang, with the new deal codes that just came out, help me build up my laptop. I want to purchase before these deal coupons run out. SO here is what i am thinking and please help me with the cost/benefit of not going bigger.

I REALLY want the T2500 but the T2400 seems to be configured almost $300 less because I can not use the 30% off coupon for the T2500 system. if you find out how, PLEASE let me know.

Here is the T2400 system I am looking at:

Intel® Core™ Duo Proc T2400 (1.83GHz/667MHz/2 X 1MB L2 Cache)

15.4 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen SXGA+ Display with TrueLife™

FREE 1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz, 2 Dimm

256MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1400 HyperMemory™

80GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive

8X CD/DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability

Dell Draft N Internal Wireless and Bluetooth

2Yr Ltd Warranty, 2Yr At-Home Service, and 2Yr HW Warranty Support

TOTAL1,005.90

I configured the T2500 with 100 gig HD and everything else is the same as above. the total came out to TOTAL1,405.00

I would be interested in upgraded my processor later on to a memron or whatever if the price was in range and wasn't too much work to put in. Please help me build the T2500 and get the price down or tell me why I should just go ahead and take advantage of the T2400.

Thanks for your time!

I'd go for the cheaper one but maybe upgrade the speed of the HD to 7200rpm and perhaps drop to the WXGA screen with Truelife, which from all I've seen is the Quanta display rather than an LG or Samsung and supposedly better quality. It's the one I have with no complaints.

any other comments on the screen. Thanks for the input.

On the quanta screen? It's best view straight on. The other more expensives ones are reported to have "wider angles" for better viewing from side to side.

Mine had no dead pixels and very little light leakage on the bottom and only noticable with a black screen. I'm not sure if they're called sparkles, but on a white or very light gray screen it's like you can see the pixels and only seen on very few websites.

One thing I was a little taken aback on is the wide screen resolution. Mine's 1280x800 and the standard fonts and icons are alot smaller than I'm used too. I think the more expensive screens may be smaller still. If you have good eyes, I don't, it may not be a problem.

Don't worry about the T2500 as the speed difference is minimal. Save you money as you suggest above and wait for the plug-in campatible Merom's that will be out in a few weeks.

You can buy a merom when the price come down and fyi they are 64 bit as well as 32. Current benchmark is the perform 20% better than current Yonah at same clock speed.

It seems you're very much set on getting a laptop now, but why not wait a few more weeks until Merom comes out with compatible and stable mobo with BIOS and laptop cooling already in place? I know one can pop in a Merom processor later into the E1505 as long as Dell releases an official BIOS for it, but the cooling soln might not be enough.

one of the problems in waiting is the price. I am sure when they come out they will be very much more expensive. This in turn might also lower the current prices of the core duo. It is really a toss up. What are the prices of the merom's?

Just configured it with the Dell EPP program and this is what i got SHIPPED with the T2400.

Sub-total $937.92 Shipping & Handling $19.99

Shipping & Handling Discount -$19.99 Tax $56.27 Total Price ^ $994.19

Only problem is, I can't get the EPP discount
