C. Memory:

The most memory this sytem can support is 2.83GB, this is because 1.17GB of address space is reserved for other hardware functions. This is a hardware restriction and not a software restriction, meaning this restriction is there no matter what operating system you use. Below is a insert from the chipset detailing this.

Very nice thread! I don't know if you can help, but I've been trying to figure out if there is a portable travel power adapter available for this beast... one I could use in a car/plane/wall outlet, or even just a smaller AC brick then the one it came with. I have the ATI GPU, which I believe draws the least amount of power, if that helps.

I guess other things that may be useful for this 'guide' would be what kind of replacement battery to get, what brand of ram is usually installed, links/advice for getting the 64 bit edition of XP installed, and maybe some more stuff like that.

my D900t is from xtremenotebooks.com, and I know they are also made by ITC metabox (australlia). If I come across some other manufacturers, I'll post 'em here.

Nice thread. Do you know when the go 7950GTX will be available for the D900T/K series?

Tell me then, if I were to get a prebuilt laptop with a sub par grahics card and less ram than I really wanted, it would be a simple matter to upgrade? Just swap out the parts?

I'd like an installation guide; although that wouldn't help your business at all. I prefer to do things myself, even if it only saves me $50. Anyway, setting up RAID seems to be a common issue so that would be a point I'd like to see. A question that I think I already know the answer to: can you use a Conroe proc in these yet? That would be superlative! Let's see, what else? Tips for getting one apart, so we don't break tabs off of the plastic, or chip the paint all up. Maybe keep an updated price of what you'd sell the barebones for and what a fully loaded one is going for at the top of the thread. Great idea though, love it.

My Clevo D900T is currently facing a startup problem. The laptop doesn't even get into its BIOS and also the screen remains blank during the startup process. Please send me your valuable suggestions to solve this problem.

In case you really do have a problem, it is likely the motherboard crashed. It's very common and you have to replace it, costs quite a bit.

My alienware m7700 computer won't power up from it's battery at all. It's behaving like a desktop. Any suggestions? I've already flipped the CMOS battery and purchased a new battery off eBay Both have done nothing to help

I have a Alienware M7700 and mine will boot, and sometimes make it to the windows login screen but the screen is full of tears and sometimes it isn't. If it isn't and i can manage to login anytime i try to open a program or even windows start icon the screen lags, then it goes completely black, then comes back lagged again, then black, over and over until the program or application has loaded completely. I was just wondering is this a motherboard problem or a video card problem. Or both. I was also wondering if there is a more stable system that could fit into this clevo chassie and where can i get parts for either two solutions. Any help is much appreciated.

I am attempting to replace the dual cpu fan module on my AW M7700. I am considering removing the keyboard and seeing if there is a way to wiggle it out that way. I have had this laptop for 4 years. Had to send it in once to have the MB replaced while it was still under warranty. I have replaced the video module, added a hard drive and replaced the dvd/cd drives on my own. I ordered replacement fans and had no problem replace the fan in the memory area.

Any help in replaceing the dual fan module would be helpful.

As I understand it, Black Screen of Death is mostly (if not always) software/OS related, caused by bad drivers or hard drive.

cheers ...

Thanks for the reply but I think you have the wrong Black screen of death in mind I'm not talking about the blinking cursor black screen of death I'm talking about the one associated with the mb going bad on this alienware model
