Samsung Screen specs

Hello,

Can someone confirm that this is the samsung screen :

http://samsung.com/Products/TFTLCD/N...1W/LTN121W.htm

I'd Imagine it would say LTN121W on the physical screen (kinda like the auo says B121EW0x [x=1 or 2 or 3]... and the toshiba says LTD121EXPD)

I'm also receiving a replacement because my current XPS M1210 has sound card issue (confirmed by Dell tech support and customer care). It will be interesting to see if I will have the same screen - AUO.

MrSmileyJr, I'm not sure of your location but the total satisfaction return policy is not 21-days anymore... it's 30-days (for non-refurbished products) so you're still covered.

Oh I was under the impression it was 21 days - based on what people said on the forums.... no no actually it was because when I spoke to tech support they said 21 days.... but when i spoke to customer service she was the one who right away offered a replacement system.... thank god for that :-)

I would imagine that is written on the physical screen... you may to have to take off the screen bezel to see.... it seems that w02 has 100 vertical and 130 horizontal in viewing angle while the 01 and 03 is only 80/60.

If you do find out please update :-)

Yes, but that turns off the powersaving features.....one of the reasons I bought this laptop is because of its powersaving features....why can't they just work right???

technetium, can you please tell me what the dell part number for your screen is? (listed on your packing slip - the paper attached to the outside of the box the computer came in - not on the receipt)

thanx

What is your basis for saying that the samsung screen is better than the toshiba screen?

My LCD Story:

Got my 1210 yesterday OH wait, I have screen flickering! So I checked to see what screen I got. I got the Samsung Screen which I thought was the second best. So I contacted Dell Tech support and they tried sending me a Refurb LCD, No way!

Long Story Short, I contacted Dell Customer Service, told them that the laptop isn't even 24 hours old and already have a problem. So they are sending me a new system. What sucks is, I tried upgrading to the AV Package so I could get the AUO screen, but they wouldn't let me.

So, good news is, I get a new laptop replacement, no refurb Bad news is, What LCD am I getting next?

I also went thru what you went through.
Patience paid off, as I finally got one of the 8 people to try and help me, cave and send me the AV package since I was pushing how much I wanted the AUO screen.
The secret is to be reallllllly friendly to these kids, try and get a USA based person, and really explain the problem.

He listened, and was even nice enough to upgrade my Wifi card to the N Draft, when I explained it was a shame I didn't have that option when I ordered a month ago.

Mind you, I went thru 4 laptops, but finally got the one I wanted.

It's the best of the 4, (first AUO screen) and I am glad I just didn't settle.

Be patient, try a few people, and you should get what you want.

Hope that helps.

Here is my little tale. Ordered a refurb m1210 from the outlet on 8/10. I thought it was a pretty good deal, came out to $899 for a basic configuration with the video upgraded to the Geforce 7400, and I got a $50 concession coupon after the fact. However, i just received it today, and it had the crappy Toshiba screen. The vertical viewing angle was horrible, especially compared to the Inspiron 8600 that I am replacing, and if you look at it at all off center, it is washed out with what looks like major light leakage. I contacted dell tech support trying to get a replacement screen. They told me it was a customer support issue, so I contacted customer support via online chat. The first woman wouldn't budge, and refused to send out a replacement panel. She said I would need to return the entire system, and reorder another system of my choice. Since I got a good price on the original through the outlet, I did not want to do this. I just disconnected from her without answering her, and hopped right back on chat again. This time, I got a friendly CSR who was really apologetic, and promptly said he was going to replace the entire notebook. So now I get a brand new one instead of a refurb! Hopefully, the screen on this new one is better or I will be contacting them again.

Truely, what are the ODDS of getting a AUO Screen? I didn't see a problem with the Samsung.

Well, in my case, my computer was actually manufactured on July 5. It seems from reading through this thread that the people who ordered early on (June/early July) were more likely to receive Toshiba Screens. As this thread has progressed, I have seen more people getting the AUO screeens.
Are you sure that's the case??? From what I understand, the very 1st batch of M1210 (AV & non-AV) that Dell ships out include the AUO screens.... a bit latter on (from mid-June), Dell uses the AUO screens "exclusively" for the AV M1210 & Samsung or Toshiba screens "exclusively" for the non-AV M1210...

Order date: August 4th, 2006
No A/V Package
Toshiba LCD58E display

I knew before I even installed powerstrip that I had a non-auo display. The colours look really washed out and I can't look at the screen for too long. Will I be able to get this exchanged?
