This screen, Samsung, looks as good as my M170. I just better something that doesn't flicker and looks good. The Samsung is good quality IMO.

I got my the new replacement M1210 on 14th of Aug. It also has AUO3214 screen

After 2 Toshiba LCD returns I asked NICELY to upgrade to the AV package after explaining the problems with the LCD, paid the difference and got a AUO3214. They must be getting tired of this issue. Look for lots of Toshiba screens on the refurbs...

Is that with or without the AV package?

can anyone comment on the difference between samsung and AUO lcds? i have the samsung and from what i can tell its good, very little colour bleed at the bottom on a black screen, decent vertical viewing angle. is it worth complaining to get the AUO?

I don't have one, but the picture is supposed to be good on the Samsung as well. As long as you don't have the flashing problem people have reported, I wouldn't think it would be worth the hassle.

Just opened mine up and the first thing I noticed was the flickering..checked and it was the samsung. I turned off powermizer and it is perfect now. The samsung is a very nice looking screen imho.

As long as you didn't get the crappy Toshiba, consider yourself lucky. I am waiting on a replacement for mine. How bad is the flickering on the Samsung. Can you live with it?

I'm waiting for my replacement for my m1210 Samsung Flickering CRAP! This replacement better be good or it gets returned for a full refund.

Wouldn't turning down the powermizer affect performance of the video card for like gaming etc?

I think more like it will disable the power saving features of the card and suck your battery down fast.

There is no flickering with powermizer off. With it on it was very frequent.

Ok so aside from the flickering... Are we saying the Samsung is really the better screen over the AUO? Anyone got both and can do a side by side? Are the blacks black..are the viewing angles better? Color sharper?
I have a samsung and have not experienced any screen flickering problem?! And apart from the minimal light leakage at the bottom of the screen, I think its pretty good. I have never seen the AUO though.

EDIT: Well turns out I do have the flickering problem, just noticed it! Darn. I am going to try to get upgraded to a AUO screen with webcam. I am doubting it will happen though and have to just turn off the Powermize feature to stop the flickering.

AUO with AV Package here.

I have the Toshiba screen, and I don't really see what the fuss is about.

The vertical viewing angle isn't the greatest, but mine does not really seem that bad. When I view from the side the colours don't wash out at all, the side viewing angles on mine are actually really good. If you look at it from too much of a side angle it does go bad, but no worse than a normal LCD.

The colours are much better and the screen is overall sharper than the samsung CRT that i am used to.

I'm thinking about complaining to try and get an AUO screen, but I honestly don't know if its worth it, I'm actually happy with my system other than wondering if an AUO screen is THAT much better, after reading this thread, haha.

Hmmm actually i made a call to dell telling them i would like to chnage to an AUO screen as i felt that my current screen is just not up to par. they arranged it, 2 days time came to my office cganged the LCD to AUO in 30 Min, and there is actually a huge difff..... i was setting all my screen setting at 100% for my toshiba but when i changed the AUO setting it was all only about 20%.... not sure why its so.

Anyway it is much sharper now and with better contrast too. Cheers!

they actually sent you an AUO LCD? Did they send you the entire top lid assembly with the camera? with no camera? or just the lcd? BTW Where are you located?

So, let me get this straight...
if you ordered the web-cam with M1210, you are guaranteed to get AUO. Am I correct?
