can i get some feedback from people who have AUO lcds? Any complaints? Are you happy with it? hows the colors, resolution, veiwing angles? comparisons? thanks
post #25 of 370
Well, finally my xps arrived to my house, i'm from chile and it took 11 business days (not that bad here xD) , anyway , mine has LCD58E3 and i have to tell you : viewing angle just sucks , but when you view it directly at the eye level it looks fine, the vertical angle really sucks also , so i'm thinking to ask for a replacement, but before that i would like to see with my own eyes another LCD (a friend of mine is waiting for a xps too and it could be here this week).

How much time do i have to ask for a replacement?

I would say do it before 21 days. Thats when the return policy ends.

plastik was getting upset because I started a new thread (unintentionally).

Here is the contribution of a side by side comparison of Toshiba vs LTN121W1-L02 ; the toshiba is a little warmer (less bluer), the whites on the toshiba are good but the 121w1-l02 were a tad crisper - maybe due to the cooler tones. Viewing angles the same on both. No noticeable light leak or sparkle on either. Overall quality is the same with my personal preference towards the 121x1-l02 with the exception that the two 121x1-l02 I had had the bright sporadic flash problem and had to be sent back.

Just arrived!
AUO3214.
Ordered July 14th,arrived the 25th. Includes AV package.
AUO3214 I bought mine from a reseller so i have no idea when he ordered it. I've had it since about the 13th of July..

Viewing angles suck..there is no getting around that..you have to play to find the sweet spot which can be annoying. The screen shot the OP posted is a huge difference. SpeedwithJJ since you have the Auo screen and the 700m is it possible for you to take side by sides.. i'd like to see the difference between the two. There really is no excuse for them to cheapen the screen on a Xps system..

I agree with synergi, I was impressed with the AUO screen on the 700m, and the M1210 is as good in regards to clearness and non-glittery/sparkle but I definately notice black being lighter on the M1210 and viewing angles not as good... my friend still has a 700m (albiet from about 2 years ago)... I will take side by side pictures this Saturday and post them.

if you dont get direct view then the blacks not black but the correct veiwing angle all is good

You can easily know roughly when he ordered it by going to the Dell web site & look up the "Service contracts & warranties." Note that the start date of the warranty is the time when the laptop is shipped.

Sure, no problem. Do give me some time. I just received my replacement system a couple of hours ago & am busy setting up stuff on that one. I'm gonna be posting some interesting pictures as well. One thing I can say right now is that the keyboard (lower right portion) on the new replacement has absolutely no flex at all. Still waiting for XP to be set up before being able to know the LCD maker on that one. It's gonna be a long night!

No offense, I know it is hard to explain it to you & I know you're probably sick of some of my posts but if you get the chance to view a 700m screen, do go take a good look. I guarantee that you'll then realize that a very good viewing angle, totally non light leakage screen had been & can be found on a Dell...

Just got my M1210 yesterday and confirmed it had the LCD58E. Doesn't seem too bad, but then again, i don't have an AUO3214 to compare it too. I bought it from a reseller so I don't know exactly when it was ordered/built.

Same ship date as my original one! Checked my replacement M1210 that I received yesterday & it is also an AUO3214. Still haven't played with it for too long but do noticed that there is some slight difference in the LCD quality even though they are both AUOs. I can't quite explain it at this point in time...
