New Lappy for me

I am right now looking into ASUS for a new notebook. Can you guys recommend any good laptops for me? I play a lot of BF2 and FEAR and would like a notebook that can handle these games at a pretty decent rate. My price limit is about 2k.

Thankyou

vote for Z96J here as well. I prefer the higher resolution b/c my current one is 1280x800 and its just not the same

The Z96J seems pretty like a pretty good deal. Where is the best place to buy the Z96J? I was also thinking about the W3J. What settings do you think the W3J will play BF2 on? I was also considering if I should wait for Merom. How long would I have to wait until companies start dishing out Merom proccesors in their notebooks?
a month or 2 for the merom, but probably instantly for acer, hp, compaq, and such

Asus resellers:
powernotebooks.com
geared2play.com
gentechpc.com
c9tech.com
milestonepc.com /canada
probably some more..

if you want merom for better gaming, no need to wait. A better processor wont do much for gaming. Its all about the video card. But if you need it for decoding/encoding code, audio, video, then consider merom.

I've narrowed it down to the Z96J and the W3J. Also, does the Z96J and the W3J have a microphone built into it? What is the maximum amount of DDR2 you can put into the W3J?
RAM limit is probably 2GB, like most modern notebooks.

Yes the Z96j has built in microphones and a webcam.

Here's the review i did on the Z96j, it covers some games, and this could help you on your graphical needs.

Generally all X1600 256mb perform roughly the same, it just all about the drivers and clock settings that are different from eachother.

For BF2 many comment that 2GB of ram is neeeded to play BF2 well.

yes, 100% need 2gb of RAM for BF2 the reason is because the x1600 shares 256mb of your system RAM with its 256mb of video RAM for a combined 512 MB of memory. You will need 2gb to make up for that lost system memory.

Depends on your locations really. you should avoid purchasing the computer from your area to avoid sales tax

Paying sales tax >> Getting bad service

I've decided on the W3J. What settings do you think I will be able to play BF2 on? or better yet.....will it play Battlefield 2142 on at least medium settings?

I've heard of people playing it at the native res [1280] and on med-high settings depening on RAM config.
