Touchpad Alps driver prevents standby

I fired up old '04 satellite A45-S121, because my 2 "normal computer's" died suddenly. It was out of date, etc. I got all of the patches installed. I was getting this message, " device driver for Alps touchpad is preventing the machine from entering standby or hibernation", so thinking someone installed a external mouse, I deleted the Alps driver, that took care of the message. then I found out that TAPs was working again, which I didn't want. So I reinstalled the Alps driver as it was the only way I could turn off TAPs.

I have a bad tremor in my hands and when I touch the Touchpad, it thinks I'm double clicking it, or it picks up files as I pass over, then I spend time trying to put things back. I'm a RH index finger typer!

I need to enter Standby or Hibernation, how do I fix it?

I just saw a the same thing listed as being resolved in driver update for a dell laptop I was formatting (I literally saw that not more than half an hour ago). Check the toshiba support site for the latest version of the drivers, install them and see if that fixes it. Here's a link to tosh support CLICK
