Just did my first M1210 mod! Much better now! You can do it too!

Yep, I did the unthinkable. I modded my M1210!

What did I do?

Well, I removed the little panel above the keyboard, and put two little pieces of black electrical tape where the blue LEDs are for POWER and MEDIADIRECT. Now, no more ugly blue LEDS blinding me in dimly-lit rooms! Yay!

If my M1710 doesn't have blue LEDs (it certainly has other LEDs ), the M1210 doesn't need them either. Heck, it already has a powered-on green LED anyway!

I highly recommend this two-second modification.

I actually like the little blue lights. It's a touch of character in a world full of boring looking laptops.

I agree with liking the blue lights, but glad you found a fix to your problem!

phobic, you seem to fail at noticing just how blue led's are being over used. ^^

I would have used something that is dark but transluscent. That way you can still see the lights but they wont catch your eye.

Heh, I don't even notice the lights when I'm using my laptop for well... anything. I dunno, maybe I'm jaded but I have found very little if anything to complain about with my M1210.

Oh well... to each his own.

I'm one of those people who believe that the person who invented the blue LED should be hanged.

I like the lights too. I think it looks cool. When I have it in front of me I'm looking at the screen not down at the front of the unit. And when I have it plugged into my home theater it is way off to the side so I don't even notice them.

So for me it's not annoying and more of a neato thing like having sequential tail lights on my Mustang, that I can't see and serve no purpose other than looks.

You....can turn them off in the bios? Nope, just checked. You can only turn off the Media button LEDs at the front. Not the power/mediadirect LEDs.
