Feel free to post if you are happy with your screen or not and any problems (light leakage, dead pixels, uneven backlighting, etc.) you have with your screen.

Are you referring to the matte WXGA+ or TrueLife WUXGA+?

Either

While I'm not complaining I can see how others who are more fussy would not be happy. There is light leakage along the bottom, which is really only noticable on blacks which you don't really have that often. Also there is a noticeable uneven black accross the screen - again seen only in solid blacks. Otherwise I don't really notice it.

My last E1705 was an LGPhilips, my replacement came with an LGPhilips V2

First system:DF028 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 17, Wide Ultra Extended Graphics Array, VIDEO ELEC. STDS. ASSOC., GLARE WIDE VIEWING ANGLE, LG PHILIPS LCD
New system: HH258 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 17, WU, VIDEO ELEC. STDS. ASSOC., GLARE WIDE VIEWING ANGLE, LG PHILIPS LCD, V2

Neither of these had horrible light leakage at all, even the new one being as bright as it is has minimal leaks.

The first had slightly better black representation, but he new one is a bit more vibrant and far brighter, I would say easily 30% brighter, I have to turn down the brightness by 3 compared to the old panel.

My replacement machine (7900 vid card) got upgraded to the LG screen...
My wifes with x1400 still has the Samsung.

I was absolutely amazed at the difference in my old 7800 machines screen until I saw my wifes samsung.. hers was so much clearer and crisp with maybe 1/4in light leakage while mine had about 2-3 inches of leakage... I then got the 7900 replacemetn system and it had the LG screen..

OH MY GOD!!!! THe whites and blacks were light years brighter and deeper in saturation than my wifes x1400 based system. THe Windows Loading screen.. the white of the WINDOWS letters just POPPED and was gorgeous.

For those that have 3 inches of light leakage.. try to get a new screen! its worht the trouble!!!!!!

I reformatted mine before I looked at the display in device manager. Now it just has 3 "default monitors, and 1 "plug and play monitor".

Any way to find out which I have without taking apart the LCD?

Log log into dells site (hopefully you have a login) then go to your systems service tag under my default system, the exact screen is listed under original configuration.

The plug and play one should be the active one, but it will only give you a general hardware reference, go to the website it is the actual panel used.

Well i just got my Dell E1705 yesturday, and iam loving it. Couldnt afford the Intel Core Duo, so i got the solo. But i got the Go 7900GS, which is sweet. I dunno anything about the actul LCD Panel. All i know is that its max res is 1440x900, and it looks alright. I think i may try to upgrade and get a trueview monitor.

Does anyone with the LG screen have dark corners? My left and right bottom corners are just a little darker than the rest of the screen. I can only notice it on a white screen though.

yeah that is common, and it is not just with LG screen, for the most part, it isnt noticable.

Both my LGs have it, and my i9300's Samsung 1440x900 also had that.

WUXGA+ LG Phillips screen. It's the best screen I've ever used, hands down. Awesome colors and viewing angles. I have no dead pixels but there is very slight light leakage at the bottom. But it's hardly noticiable even on an all black screen. I haven't noticed the darker corners though.

I have the Samsung WSUXGA or whatever True life. It does have some light leakage at the bottom of the screen.. quarter inch maybe... maybe half an inch, but I don't really notice it. I do like the screen however. Very crisp, no dead pixels, no sparkles... easy on the eyes.

I got an LG YAY~~ won the lcd lottery. Btw, when i'm browsing the web a lot of images are blurry almost like the resolution is too high for the images. Like the notebook forum banner at the top is blurry. (looks almost like you shrunk the image).

how do u fix this?

Samsung, WUXGA+.

slight leakage along the bottom and one dead pixel I can't even find anymore. Over all, I'm happy with it. I have the semi-gloss on my M90. The gloss is PERFECT.

I bet ya it's a Samsung. The E1705 that shipped out since the start of this month has the matte WXGA+ screen by Samsung & the glossy TL WUXGA+ by LG (Version 2).
