How many people with the LG have dark corners?
I'm on the LG also, with the 2 darker bottom left & right corners. Not such a big deal to me, no dead pixels and leakage isn't noticeable.

Got my E1705 several days ago.
I have the ultra high resolution screen.
I noticed the screen had very poor color saturation, and had light leaks
along the bottom, My old e-Machines M6805 looked very much better
compared side by side.
I called Dell and the Tech. had me remove the cover and check to be sure
the Video card connector was securely pushed on, It was.
He then had me hook up an external monitor and see if the poor color saturation and light at the bottom was Video card related.
The external screen looked bright, vivid and totally evenly lit.
I explained to him that I did a search on the Web and found that the Samsung Screens seemed to have the majority of the problems as opposed
to the LG Phillips brand.
He then authorized immediatly to have a Repair tech come to my house
and replace the screen for me.
It's a crap shoot as far as what they will be sending, as all the screens have the same part number.
I should be getting a call this comming Monday to set up the time to have
the new screen installed.
If it isn't any better, I will be having them order another till they get it right.
I expect it to be an improvement over my old e-Machines, after all thats the
point of getting a newer up to date machine.
I will let you know what happens either way.

If you want the colors to be nice on a Samsung, you'll have to tweak it by adjusting the brightness, contrast, & gamma on the Nvidia control panel... using the stock (default) settings will make the Samsung LCDs look washed out...

Good luck in your LCD replacement too...

though i have a 1710, i have had all three screens.

The sharp was okay. The colors were not too vibrant and had some weird light leakage that was bad enough to warrant replacement. The response (ghosting) on this screen was minimal and gaming was very acceptable and "sharp". A few tweaks and sharp could have an excellent LCD.

The samsung was pure crap. The whole right quarter had a red hued light leakage and a lot at the bottom. Also had a dead pixel located in the lower right quarter and had dark lower corners. The blues were a bit better on this screen. Playing BF2, I experienced pretty bad ghosing and when scrolling on the internet it casted a reddish ghosting when the text moved.

Now the LG V2 screen I just got is pure bliss compared to EVERY other screen I have ever received from dell. This screen has virtually no light leakage whatsoever. No dead pixels, and being a graphics designer, the difference in color between this and the others was jaw dropping. Very rich indeed. I can now make out the most subtle color variations wherein the other screens were lacking in this area badly. The only downside is that the bottom corners are a bit dark but acceptable and do not distract from the viewing experience.

I have heard of people getting good screens from the other manufacturers, but I would have to say IMO, that LG has something going here...

I do, but I've edited my wallpaper in Photoshop to correct the disparity. Once engaged in any game or program activity, I am just too damn busy to notice.

Sharp screen, has a good bit of sparkle and slight leakage. Thinking about calling dell to replace it with hopefully an lg.

After 3 screens in my M1710 (which I ultimately sold because I wasn't happy with the screen), I have a E1705 (from Dell Outlet) for 1/3 the price and the best LCD I have seen:

MODULE, LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 17WU, LG PHILIPS LCD, ENHANCED, 9400

Bright whites, excellent viewing angles, no bad pixels, practically no light leakage, and beautiful colors.

What more could a guy ask for?
