ok ive had my 8600 for a few days now and i love it, but i got a few questions
1. has anyone been able to play sim city 4 on full settings, i cant, i get so much lag, and i have the ati 9600 with 512mb ram and a 1.4ghz processor, i dont know whats up.
2. i have the default i think 2100 wireless card and you know where it can pick up signals and stuff and u can scan the area for a network, well i noticed that theres 11 channels. well i was in my living the room the other day and all the sudden it picked up a network, does it just keep scanning the channel ur on for local networks or does it scan all and change to the one it finds, if you understand what im gettin at please help me.
3. kind of off the subject but whats the best and most compatiable video player, like that i can play dvds, divx all that and also be able to do full screen on a different monitor because i cant do that with windows media player, sooo...thanks guys, i think thats all for now.

I think the problem with SC4 is the way the game engine was designed. I have read posts from people who have tons of lag on desktops and desktop replacements.

Unreal04 and FS2004 can both take advantage of the full 1920x1200 WUXGA resolution. How about starting a thread listing game that can be played at the WUXGA res?

Be sure to get the latest patches for SC4. They fix a lot of bugs, tone down on the difficulty, and make it run faster for the common man.

On my zForce F2 (P-M 1.6, Radeon 9600 w/ 64MB VRAM, 1GB RAM, 60GB 7200RPM HDD), I'm getting good results in SC4: RH with everything on high detail and running at 1280x1024. If the "lag" you're talking about is when buildings are blocky/black when you scroll, that's what SC4 does regardless since it has to load all those pics in various resolutions into the system.

I think the culprit here is either a slow hard drive (the i8600 comes default w/ a 4200RPM) or the lack of RAM.
