I just got my inspiron 6400 and the "E" key does not work unless pressed extremely hard. Is there a self-way to fix this or do i have to continue sitting on the phone with dell tech support?

pop it up and see if the spring is out of whack or you got left over burger king stuck under it

Yeah I actually did finally figure out how to pop it out. It does the exact same thing. I press the little rubber thing and it only makes an "e" on the computer when i press super hard. I figure the only thing I can do is send it back to dell... called them, and after being transferred to the "gold member" service by a worker in India, I was then told by the gold member CS agent that I was not in fact a gold member, so he transferred me to basic CS and i waited 20 minutes on hold and then hung up. jerks.

yeah actually that happened just now. I had sent a customer service chat e-mail thingy describing my problem (apparently live chat isn't available to small business purchases yet... wtf?) and just got an email back saying a replacement was being sent. any tips on taking out and installing the new one when it arrives?

It should be super easy. Laptop assembly has been getting interesting in the past couple of years, and while some stuff is accessable on the bottem of the laptop, other things are now accessed ontop, under they keyboard. So to get access, you take a flat headed screw driver and the small section of bazel between the keyboard and lcd screen can be poped out, revealing 2 screws for the keyboard. Unscrew them (make sure they dont fall into the laptop!) and the keyboard will come right out.
